Personal:

I have five cute kids. And I have some rockin short green racing shorts- I wear them mainly because it embarrasses my wife so much. I like ultimate frisbee, trail running, reading, and cheering for the Denver Broncos!   And I have the absolute best wife in the world.  And I used to run for the now-disbanded national Team Pearl Izumi- Ultra!

AM 8 around home. Then worked for home to watch the solar eclipse. We had totality here in Greenville, and it was really awesome. Unique sight, very beautiful. Seeing the corona was my favorite. It was not as dark as I thought it would be- the sky was purple and blue, not black, but you could see a few stars and planets. There were also strange-shaped shadows, shadow waves, and the diamond ring. Neat day, I'll definitely remember this one.

PM- PM with Merle, Aaron, and Seth. Lots of talk on the eclipse. Aaron and Seth didn't see totality due to clouds, which is too bad. Hot, mid 90's. Merle and I did the whole 10 mile loop, and I felt pretty good. Hope I feel good tomorrow, as well.

AM 6 on GE trail. Biggest group of turkeys I've ever seen, 9 or 10

Lunch- 6 v 6 ultimate. Hot and humid. My team was down 0-2 but then won 5-3. We probably had a better team, especially since right at the start of the game we lost our worst player and they other team lost their best. Still, the other team scored the first 2.

AM- 8 miles, 2x GE trail. 7 deer, 1 turkey, no people. Not sure if I was moving fast or slow. I know slow at start but maybe faster by the end? I keep finding the near on the other side of the GE chain link fence from me, and they freak out and try to run away even though I can't get them. Even seen one jump it, plus others run into it or other things. If they just stood still, they would be just fine.

AM- not as hot in the mornings anymore, mid-60's. Ran 7 miles, most on GE trail. Saw 1 turkey, no deer, no people. Solitude. Still listening to Hardcore History podcast during runs. Right now I'm working through the Punic Wars series.

I'm enjoying my solo morning runs with podcasts. Not sure what I'll do when it's cold, dark, and rainy in the morning- probably sometimes outside, sometimes treadmill. Of course, treadmill is more enjoyable once NFL season starts so I can watch Mike and Mike. Although I'm doing my best to minimize time spent on football this season.

Lunch- ultimate frisbee. It's been a while since I had a bad game- Wednesday, for example, I was catching pretty much everything and all my throws were going where I wanted, even the long ones. Not today. Real stinker of a game- a few bad drops, but mainly lots of bad throws. Short, medium, long... bad. 20 people, so 2 games. My team lost the first one 5-1, then the second 5-3. Then we cobbled together 8 people for 1 more game, which we lost 5-3. Blah. Always fun, but a real stinker for me today. The good news was we played for almost 90 minutes between all the games, not finishing till 1:30.

AM- ran 2 miles with Marci, then 4 by myself, which meant my pace went from 10:00 to 7:30. Not often you increase pace that much in a run.

54 miles for the week, between frisbee and running. That's my highest in 14 months. That mileage used to be a normal training block Mon-Wed.
