Not really sure how to feel about today.  I am very disappointed in my performance but considering the events of this week and all the travel this summer, I am trying to be more positive.

I had been out of town Monday and Tuesday and usually run but was completely wiped out.  I was attributing that to a delayed flight and only about 4 hours of sleep one night.  But come Thursday, it probably had more to do with the fact that I was getting sick.   Thursday and Friday were miserable and I debated on even running but went ahead anyways.  I really began to regret my decision on the bus ride up because I felt horrible.   I started feeling better as we warmed up but the nasal congestion and coughing would not go away.

I started a little faster than I should have but quickly let Dean, Julie and Michelle N go ahead.   I considered GU'ing at mile 3 but decided against it and that probably wasn't the best decision.  By the time I GU'd at 6.5 I was feeling very fatigued, but picked back up and it was hit and miss for the next 4.5 miles.   Some good times, some bad times but survival.   Not sure what happened at the 11.5 mile water stop but I almost collapsed at the mister.   The last mile on the race always drags on but the worst is the run on the grass.  I always slow down because I am so afraid of falling or rolling my ankle.

I really wish I had more good to say, but some races are just that way.    Quite a contrast from my 20 miler last week.    So a good reality check.   Time to refocus and train hard for 3-4 more weeks before taper time.  Travel is still going to happen, can't get out of that but hopefully I will feel better soon.

Happy Running!
