Ran with Paula up through "favorite run".  Absolutely beautiful sunrise.  Picked up the pace too much on the way home.

Met the BBK's for our Tuesday workout.   I started at 5 and did 2.75 on my own and then met up with the 5:30 crowd for another 2.75 and then we regrouped at 6 for the main workout.  We did 3/4 mile and 1/2 mile repeats and then a 2 mile tempo run.  By the time the tempo run came my legs were extremely fatigued and could not get any where near a true tempo pace but pushed the best I could.

In San Diego for work.  We stayed at a different hotel then we normally do and I was excited to run some place different.  I started out and ended up running 4 miles out to the b beach and should have turned around and headed back the same way. But no, there was a great big hill calling my name.  I decided to run up it and thought (bad idea) that I would come down and run int W. Point Loma Blvd - the road I had run on out to the beach.  Made it up the .25 mile hill, I am not sure of the grade but it was extremely steep, and then came back down and no W. Point Loma Blvd.   Decided to go up and over the next hill because for sure I will run into my street, nope, no luck.  I started really getting worried at this point and continued on and found a super nice guy in his driveway who told me "give me the street name, I will get you there".  Told him where I was staying and how I had gotten to where I was and he gave me very easy directions back to the hotel.   I started back to the hotel and had to really pick up the pace because I had no idea how far away it was.   I ended up with 9 miles rather than 8 and found a great loop to run if I ever stay out in that area again, but I was really worried for a few minutes.  I am usually on my own when I travel but I had my boss with me and I was dreading the call to him saying I was lost and did not know how to get back.  Luckily I did not have to make that call.  I looked at the map when I got back to SLC and realized how far in the wrong direction I had gone, but it was a great run and I would run it again if I get the chance.

Got home very late last night, completely exhausted and not feeling well.  Going to rest for tomorrow's race.

Not sure if I was ready to race today but glad I had planned on having Jay take Paula and my sister up to the start so I could not back out.   We warmed up for 1.4 miles and ran into Julie, Michelle, Teena and Smooth.

We started pretty fast, my first two miles were sub 7's and I was feeling great.  They did not have the water station set up at the 1/2 way point and I was needing water very badly but was still feeling good.   I felt great until the 5 mile mark and started to really feel the fatigue in my legs.  Took a drink and walked through the water stop and then picked back up.   I had been debating whether or not my lack of kick at the end is physical or mental and today it was physical.   Mentally I was trying to kick the last stretch but physically the legs would not go.   My splits were:

6:49

6:51

7:12

7:06

7:13

7:37

1:31 for the last .2

I am very happy with my time of 44:20.  This is a PR for me and a 4 min improvement over last years DesNews 10K.   I am more tired that I expected afterwards and ended up not adding on more mileage.   I think all the travel the last 6 wks is taking its toll but there is no end in sight.

Happy Running!
