Met up with my fellow BBK'ers for Wasatch Back.  I was in Van 2 so we got to sleep in a little.   I was the first runner in our van and I was a little anxious to get going.  I ran twice on Friday and here are my legs -

#1 - Leg 7.  This is a 4 mile easy stretch at the first major exchange.  I started out pretty quick and kept picking people off.  It was very hot and I have not done any training in the heat but seemed to be okay.  So glad to have the first leg done and with some success.  Ave pace 7:49

#2 - Leg 19.  This is a 3.8 mile stretch at the third major exchange at East Canyon.  I started out feeling great up the first climb and attacked the down hill.  I had worn a long sleeve shirt and started overheating on the next climb, but with the reflector, head lamp and carrying my iphone because I forgot my ipod (this was the one leg I wanted it for) I could not take it off.  I felt good until about half way up and then I really started to struggle and mentally was having a hard time staying focused.   Once I reached the crest and hit the flat I was able to pick it back up and finished strong.  Ave Pace 9:07

Overall felt okay about the day.  Leg 1 was good but very frustrated and disappointed by myself with leg 2.   I can do better and really need to get my act together.

NIce work Jody!! Those are ROCKIN' paces, you did a great job, don't beat yourself up over that second leg, those were hard - no/little sleep and fatigue from the first run. You stayed mentally tough and fought it out!! Nice to not hear any issues with ITB.

That second leg is TOUGH, it should be rated difficult, not moderate. I think that's a great time for such a steep hill.

We were really surprised by that second leg you ran. The map on the race bible just never does the hills justice! That was a super hard leg and you did GREAT!!!!

Awesome job on that first leg, too!

It was great seeing you guys here and there at the beginning of the race!
