AM - 9 miles.

PM - 8 miles. 7 + 10 x 30s uphill. Good effort. Consistently made it a bit further than I've gotten the last two times I've done this, and stayed more relaxed. Re-discovered an extra gear on the last one. Hopefully there are still several more untapped gears.

You had to figure based on how she was running that it was a matter of when/where and not if Molly Huddle would take down her AR this year. Monaco was the place, 14:42 the time. A lot of fast running today, especially for the USA mid-d squad. I wonder if track would be more popular if people were actually aware of these Diamond League meets? Probably not, but it's fun to pretend.

I read that Manzano ran a pretty decent 1500 too.

Yep, PRs for Manzano and Centro. Really fast 1500.

Kiprop really went for it on the last lap.

The interview w/ Nick Willis is the best part. Awesome to see him crack such an elusive barrier.

Awesome! Love what he said about that you can't control what others do but you can control what you do. I am going to be thinking about that on Thursday. Thanks for that link Jake.

Jake,

Not sure. Maybe I'm just not in the know here. But track and field events - TRACK - someone has got to come up with a way to market and generate interest across America. I watched Conner's race and there were like something like 1,000 viewers or so - which is just pitiful. Many more people probably would be interested in watching these races. How do people learn about them. Push nutrition in the schools - but man, maybe set up some running or exercise programs too.

Same thing for USATF senior nationals last month... I was watching the webcast of the 5000m races, and there were maybe 2000 people logged on. That's pathetic! And they were really exciting races.

Packaging the meets the right way for television is key - it's gotten better, but they need to create less downtime b/w events, more graphics / information so ppl know what they are watching (like NASCAR!), etc. These Diamond League meets are great b/c they pack a TON of action into two hours... but since you need to find a hacked European webcast to actually see them, no one knows!
