Is that Mt. Baldy in the Uintas that you are skiing, or some other Mt. Baldy?

There are so many Baldys in Utah. This Mt Baldy is the eastern-most one in Little Cottonwood Canyon, between Alta and Snowbird. When Alta closes the lifts for the season, it becomes fair game for human-powered skiing. Just a mile or two along the ridge to the west you'll find Red Baldy and White Baldy, which are also very cool peaks.
Bald Mountain in the Uintas isn't really accessible for skiing until the Mirror Lake Highway opens (still closed and probably will be through Memorial Day). Skiing off the top of Bald is high on the checklist for the spring... hopefully the roads open up while those High Uintas peaks still have plenty of snow for skiing. We'll be heading that way as soon as we can.

I could see how this picture would make you think Uintas... with that red, crumbly rock behind Andrea. Didn't really even think of that before. You don't find a ton of that rock in the Alta periphery... it definitely looks like it belongs a hundred miles east.

Does not look like fun skiing. Sugar snow. But the hike looks awesome!

It was definitely fun skiing. Sugary and unconsolidated in a couple spots but that's just what you get in the Wasatch this time of year.
