Wow.  Kind of a tough race.  I wasn't sure what to expect with this one.  About half of the course is on a dirt trail (the Fastwich aren't the best trail shoes.  I should have known better)and it climbs about 300 ft over the first 7 miles.  Luckily we lose that elevation on the final 6 miles.  I was in the pain/uncomfortable zone pretty quickly and it lasted for a while.  The elevation in Park City, the dirt trail, and the steady climb were rocking me pretty good.  I was wishing I was running Hobble Creek at this point in time actually.  I knew Rachelle (I called her Rachael the whole race) was right behind me and luckily right at the turnaround  (about 7.5 mile mark) she caught up.  Having someone to run with really helped a ton.  We basically stuck together the rest of the race.  When I started fading at about 11.5 she took the lead and I was able to hang on until I got feeling better.  We passed one guy around mile 10.5 and the other 3 in front of us were just too far out in front to catch.  The last 5 miles were good and I was able to get into a decent rythem and clip along.  Overall, a good workout for me.  It's hard mentally to see the 1:28:30 mark and too see that my avg pace is probably slower than what I would like to run at SGM, but this was a different race and was a good workout for me.  Winner finished just over 1:25.

Great job, Jeff! You should feel good about that performance on a tough course like that -- at altitude. Nice work.

Thanks, Allie. Way to go at the Dart 5K.

Thanks, Matt. I'm still amazed at how flipping fast you and the others are that you run with. Very inspiring and motivating to me.

Nice work Jeff! You would've flown by me down Hobble Creek on Saturday! Look at you getting 1st in your age division, that's awesome!

Definitely a great training race in prep for SGM. Thanks so much for pulling me through those last 5 miles. You are an incredibly strong runner Jeff!
