Marathon: 2:37:04 (St. George 2009) Short-Term Running Goals: Train for as solid a race in Boston 2011 as my schedule will allow. Accept the fact that there isn't room in my life to train for a breakthrough performance and do the best I can under the circumstances.
Long-Term Running Goals: Lose the all-or-nothing mentality and
start using running as an outlet instead of an additional source of
stress. Personal: I'm married with 4 kids (2 boys, 2 girls) and live in Salt Lake City, where I work as a real estate attorney.
Let me have men about me that are fat, Sleek-headed men and such as sleep a-nights. Yond Cassius has a lean and hungry look, He thinks too much; such men are dangerous.

| 23rd East loop with Maya (the dog) in tow (especially the last mile--she was loafing!). Comfortable throughout. AHR/MHR: 162/182

| Decided to try a simulation of Wasatch Back
assignment (legs 10, 22, 34), so I did my first leg at 5:00 pm. The
route was harder than leg 10, but it still felt pretty lousy running in
the afternoon. I'll try to get out late tonight for around 6, then
early tomorrow for "Ragnar." AHR/MHR: 164/189
Leg 2: Simulation of second leg of Wasatch Back assignment. Hard pace, particularly first 3 miles (6:20, 5:54, 6:05). First 3 felt quick and comfortable (minus the side stitch throughout miles 2 and 3--maybe it was the 5-buck pizza and chocolate creamie I had for dinner). Uphill second half felt harder, but still pretty good. One twinge of AT pain in first mile, but it didn't come back. Had side stitch that lasted a couple of miles. Will try my "Ragnar" leg in the morning to round out the 3-leg simulation. AHR/MHR: 175/187

| Simulation of "Ragnar" leg of Wasatch Back. Actually, I was only able to get in 2.2 miles of hard uphill before turning around (Ragnar is a solid 4 miles of climbing). I was badly depleted after yesterday's workouts. Should have eaten something between last night's leg and this one. Felt absolutely awful for first mile and a half or so, then kind of settled in a bit. Note to self: eat better for Wasatch Back than I have the past two days. AHR/MHR: 165/184 |

| Sugarhouse loop with Maya. First 3 miles were
reasonably quick, but Maya ran out of gas after that and slowed me down
about 30 seconds per mile. Comfortable throughout, with very minimal AT
pain. AHR/MHR: 153/174

| Easy out-and-back with Maya (the dog) up to Shoreline trail and over to Red Butte and back. Other than steep climbing sections, felt easy and comfortable throughout, with no noticeable AT pain. Maya did much better on the trails than she does on the road--the slower pace seems to suit her better.

| Had family obligations from early morning until late evening, so I didn't get my planned long run in. Bummer. |
