First day off from riding or running or both 55 days. I guess I've restablished some sort of routine. Kind of an off day. Just anxious and the workload is really increasing. I guess we aren't getting a nanny this semester, and I am really not sure how I am going to get all my work done.

Headed to Traverse City for Iceman this afternoon. Haven't sleep super great the last two nights. The boys are in a minor sleep regression, mostly waking around 1:30 or so and just not able to settle down of an hour or more. Minor groaning and grumbling. Not sure if it is teeth coming in that we can't see or what.

Iceman 2021
First race of any kind in 2 years. Iceman 2019 was my last. Rode my guts out. I had no idea I could ride at that high a heart rate for that long. Gorgeous weather and the course was much drier than 2019. A good bit of sand, but decent lines were established. Course was very fast. I was right at 13MPH on the fatbike. Most of the team guys were 15-16 MPH on hardtails and full suspensions. The pros did 20MPH.

My dad's birthday today. Gave him and my mom a call to Facetime with them and and the boys. Had a heating guy come to check the vent in nursery as the heat doesn't seem to be doing much in there. Didn't notice last year as the boys were with us in our room.

90' w/ 3 x 8'
Was feeling very anxious but finally got out around 3. The boys had an epic morning nap, which was good. Easy running but got blasted by snow and rain, but thankfully it clear. Almost turned around and went home. Too tired and old for this crap. Legs were cold and lifeless. Decided to do a little work after 60', so I settled on doing 3 x 8' moderate to uptempo. Ended up progressing effort wise. Not fast but the efforts were right and I got faster. I am thinking I will likely do some quality minutes as I rebuild long runs. Nothing too taxing for now, just enough to wash away the staleness from all the gentle running.
Broke in a new pair of Saucony ISO Freedom 3s. Like them a lot so far.

Anxious mess the last two days. The boys seem to have a stomach bug, so that has been fun. They really have never been sick.
Knee/shin have been fine, but I have been struggling not to be in bed during my morning exercise/work time.

Went to bed very early last night. Didn't sleep great. Had a lot of nightmares about the boys. Anxious today, but better after the run even though it was pretty crappy. Legs were knackered from lunges and squats yesterday. HR elevated.

Kind of unplanned. It was very cold and wanted to move a bit. Started with a 10' mile and then progressed from 8:49-7:20. Likely will start some low-stakes midweeks to try to build fitness as I rebuild my base.
