that was a great effort yesterday...a good sign when you bounce right back like it's nothing. you are putting in some intense stuff these days and it's clearly working!

I'm learning to run my recovery runs even slower. It used to be that if I ran much slower than 8:30 for a recovery run I would wonder what happened. Even though today I ran 8:40 I just went with whatever pace felt comfortable. The last time I did a steady long run I was dead the next day. I ran about 9:45-9:50 pace, which is fine with me. Somehow a 20 miler with 8-10 MP miles beats me up less!

that's the reason i stopped using a garmin -- i wouldn't keep my easy days easy because i would get too caught up in the pace. it definitely hurt my recovery.
i don't time my easy runs anymore -- whatever pace my body wants to go, that's what i run. that means plenty of 9:00+ miles. :)

I've been running a bit faster than 9 overall the last 2 weeks because the weather is cooler, but from June to the end of September I had many runs that were 9:15-9:45.
"Whatever pace my body wants to go" is the way to go. I turned my autosplit back on but I don't speed up accordingly. I'll often use it to make sure I am running slow enough. One bit of feedback every 8-10 minutes is okay for me. Having my pace displayed all the time for easy runs isn't.
