AM: 5.25 miles, averaged 9:59. HR 136.

Fell on the sidewalk almost immediately. It hurt. Banged my knee, but I think all is good.

Day of Mike's wedding. We had a good rehearsal and dinner last night. Cigars were part of the wedding gift, which I decided to partake in even though it's been many years since I had tobacco and have moved on from that business. Definitely an very occasional rarity.

The wedding was lovely and the reception was fantastic. First time at a mass in quite some time. Took communion for the first time in I don't know how long. Probably not supposed to given that I haven't done the typical proper steps of recent confession (though I am confirmed), but it felt right for the occasion I guess. I do miss the singing.

I also gave some thought to the communion rules a couple of years ago, when my brother got married. Even though I married outside the faith, I really didn't want to disrupt the ceremony on an I don't think I'm allowed basis. At that point, the risk of upsetting the bride or my mom, outweighed the risk of upsetting God. I stand by this choice. Well, at least until my judgement day.

Communion is about recognizing and accepting God's sacrifice and grace for us, even when we are sinners. Manmade rules to prescribe and limits the forgives and grace by Jesus' sacrifice is what is stupid, not embracing the relationship He seeks to have with us. It is never too late to seek fellowship with Him and reembrace and revel in His love.
