Salt Lake Marathon (26.2 Miles) 03:20:03 | | This is what I wrote after running: Felt pretty good till around 17. Held back at first, but did get caught up in it and paid for it later. Obviously, mileage (lack of) was a major factor for last 1/3 of race. Liked the race. Very happy it is over. Now some more comments looking back: I was very worried about this marathon. It was the first after the stroke. I had trained pretty good up to April, but then I had the set back which really messed up my training and was pretty much like starting over again. So I decided to do the race as a run and just feel how it went. Splits: 1 - 7:25 2 - 7:06 3 - 7:12 4 - 6:21 5 - 6:47 6 - 6:58 7 - 6:52 8 - 7:01 9 - 6:58 10 - 6:48 11 - 6:37 12 - 4:43 13 - 7:19 14 - 6:31 15 - 6:23 16 - 6:48 17 - 6:45 18 - 7:29 19 - 7:05 20 - 8:42 21 - 9:58 22 - 9:25 23 - 7:49 24 - 8:43 25 - 9:38 26 - 10:26 .2 (my GPS actually must have been off because it measured the last bit as .39) - 4:07 | Add Comment |

| | 9 3 Here is a note I wrote under this day: Goal for St. George 2:40 and a strong finish. That's a big PR - Can I do it 2 years, 2 marathons, and a stroke since a 2:55? YES! Well I got close. I see some major things I can work on now for next year. I really will need to be smart about training and goals for 2007 St. George. | Add Comment |

A note I wrote myself at the end of this day: Obviously I am taking it too hard right now and need rest. But how do you balance recovery and preparation for the next marathon? | Add Comment |

| | (here is what I wrote for this date) weights When you start writing miles, a 0 sure looks bad (maybe that's why many experts say don't count miles, but I still like to). I need the rest though. Body feels better, but both achilles - especially right- hurt. | Add Comment |
