Had to get out above the nasty inversion so went to Pipeline from Burch Hollow to Overlook and back. Was a balmy 2 degrees at the trailhead so no one on the trail today but 2 bundled up dog walkers thoughout the whole 9 miles except a lone wooly sheep hurdled out of the scrub 10 feet in front of me and stopped about 20 feet down the steep slope and looked back up at me as if to say "ya...so what? I'm not going anywhere" just watched me leave. Was still there on my return trip 4 miles later. Was Cold for a bit then warmed up around mile 2.5. Views amazing above the sludge. Loved the Goat Head Screws that I put in the bottom of my shoes. Work like a charm and are a lot less bulky than the microspikes. |
