Great day for a race. weather was good. I met Joe Bell and a couple of his friends from Lexington, KY there. They all three had great races today. PR's I believe. Thomas and Tim ran the half marathon 1:10:xx and 1:20:xx respectively. Joe finished the full in 2:50:xx. I was a little shy of a PR. Felt good, but just ran out of gas early.
Miles 1 through 4: 6:23.7, 6:33.4, 6:32.8, 6:31.3 effort seemed easy. pace was a little fast. I was wanting to try banking time which is always ill advised, but I wanted to try it. I didn't feel I had the mileage I needed in training and would need the time for the end. I know I know, a textbook mistake.
Miles 5 through 8: 6:33.1, 6:34.8, 6:24.9, 6:28.9. Still a very big group around me. The field of runners seemed to be very strong.
Miles 9 through 12: 6:42.4, 6:35.5, 6:50.5, 6:54.6:
Miles 13 through 16: 7:04.4, 7:12.3, 7:34.7, 7:43.5: My original plan is to let off the gas a little and at 15 run a 8 minute pace for about a half of a mile. This actually worked out well because my level of effort was now too high this early in the race and there was a little bit of a climb. I hydrated as much as possible.
Miles 17 through20: 7:44.1, 7:44, 7:25.8, 8:02.1: I repeated the recovery in mile 18. 2:20:12 for 20 miles
Miles 21 through 24: 7:43.7, 8:21.8, 8:07.4, 8:26.2: Legs hurting pretty bad. I'm just ready to be done.
Miles 25 26 and .2: 8:55.5, 9:05.8, 1:34: I really died at the end.
Overall, I'm happy with the run. It was a good day.
