AM - 5 easy.

right ankle wasn’t giving me trouble but i knew i’d be playing a dangerous game if i went too far. i thought about it, and i think i’d be better off moving my long run to saturday. yes it would be after an 8 hour shift, but i think it’d be easier on the body than doing it after all the weekday workouts. i usually think up my own training, but i saw that bekele did something like this in his prime(the same 4 days of tempo, sprints, hills, intervals), while i did modify it to make it a bit easier considering this is my first real training block since high school, i realize it’s still a tall order. still, i think i’ve proven myself to have a ridiculously durable body, and the tuesday and wednesday workouts are more of fine-mechanics-tuning than workouts. but anyway, bekele did the same monday-thursday workout spread, with a long run on saturday with a day of recovery before and after. i’m not gonna try and make my workload more than the greatest runner of all time by doing that long run a day early. i’ll do another 5 on the treadmill after work, and skip the long run this saturday since it’s supposed to storm something terrible tomorrow.

PM - 5 after work. this shift was pure hell; you'd think dying was going out of style but felt SUPER good, pace wasn't crazy or anything, but even if i hadn't worked i still felt good enough that it's worth mentioning. finished right before the storm hit! score!

Probably a good decision to take it easier today.

Be careful with the ankle. What kind of pain is it?

When I broke my ankle, it started out as just an annoying sharp pain every once in a while, that gradually became worse. Apparently I had a stress fracture without knowing it. Then I ran a 10K race and it went. Put me out of action for a long time and took about 1 year to really come back from it.

So be CAREFUL with your ankle.

I am excited to see your race results from the half in March. It is coming fast.

I am planning on running a half marathon in October or November this year, with a bunch of 10K and 5K races before that to get conditioned.

My first 10K is a local 10K race next weekend.

it isn't even pain, honestly. despite how crazy i train sometimes i'm super precautious, so it was VERY slightly sore from all the track turning yesterday.

most of the time, if i feel a sharp pain once i'll end the run right there. it's gotten me pretty far in running.

you're smart so i probably don't need to tell you, but the 10k is a long race. play it conservative. i raced it once after high school and hit the 2 mile mark in the same time as my 3200m PR in track. that last 5k was miserable.

and i was just thinking the other day "you know, for someone who says she isn't sure if she wants to continue running seriously, Eva sure is getting in a great run of training" :)

Eugene, to be honest I am really confused right now of how to continue with my training. I sometimes think I would like to pull way back with the training, but I also don't want to lose the fitness I have right now.

If I do run competitively in College, I won't do so until after serving a mission for the LDS church. I have decided that I want to be a missionary.

My plans right now are to stay in Japan with my family until I go on a mission. This coming summer I will be doing volunteer work at the Summer Olympics for the jaaf and world athletics (former Iaaf). I am looking forward to that. After I graduate from high school in March, I have arranged to work as an Intern at a company that I did some intern work for last summer.

I think I have also told you that I have been doing the MIT online engineering openware course. I hope to also finish that up during this coming year. It is something I started a couple of years ago and want to see it through.

I will be eligible to serve as a missionary in March of next year.
