Short-Term Running Goals:

-Qualify for the 2024 Olympic marathon trials

Long-Term Running Goals:

-Run a few fast marathons. Grandma's, St. George, and Boston are on my target list. An Olympic Trials qualifier would be amazing.

-Break stroller records?

-Stay fit for a very long time. I believe what goes into making a competitive runner at age 60 is much different than age 20, just like what goes into making a good marathoner differs from a good sprinter. I hope that by taking care of my body, I can be very fast for my age as I get older.

Personal:

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I served a mission in Rome, Italy from 2015 to 2017. I eat a whole food, plant-based diet, which I believe helps my running. I like chocolate shakes on sunday nights and I will always call the Pacific northwest home.

Another cold day for a race, this time with snow and hail. But it wasn't THAT bad (I wore a little ear warmer thing that I took off mid-race and gloves, that's it). So with the longer distance, good course, and noon start time, I really thought I was going to run up with my teammates. Guess I wasn't. I got closer to them for a while as our first 2k were very slow. But then around 3k I think it heated up a lot, and I gradually lost everyone. Too bad. It's been a tough season, knowing how much faster I was this spring. I can't explain why. But here is the good news. We got 4th place with 120 points (way off of Tulsa with 65 and way ahead of Illinois with 210), which was kind of the expected finish. But I found out the night before that was likely going to keep us out of nationals. The early races of the day did not help our case. Then on the bus while people were getting food, I finally saw the Mtn region results. CSU and USU got 8th and 9th (these were ranked teams). They didn't have the points to push themselves in which opened up a spot for us! So we are going to nationals! I am very happy about that part.
