| | 6 easy miles. Hoping to get a good streak going and to have my best running year ever. We will see how that goes with the hardest semester of school starting on Monday.

| | I really procrastinated heading out the door. Finally left at at 3:50 pm, but got it done. My pace (7:52) was good considering how out of shape I am.
| | 7 miles dark and early. It was about 25 degrees and snowing lightly. I saw about 15 deer and 2 angry dogs. Avg pace was 7:52.
| | 12 degrees, 7 miles, avg pace 8:05. I am fine with my slower pace because of all the extra clothing I had on.
| | 7 miles, avg pace of 7:59. I am incredibly tired this morning. This semester is going to be tough if I am going to get any decent training in. I've only been to 2 days of class and already I almost talked myself into sleeping in this morning. Hopefully I can get used to this schedule sooner than later.
| | 8 miles in the afternoon. It was nice not having to wear so many layers and to be able to see. I wish my schedule would allow me to do this more often, but I think I might only happen on Fridays and Saturdays, today was not a typical Thursday for this semester.
8 miles, avg pace 7:34

| | No run today, just basketball tonight. I don't want to over do it early on and have to take some time off later, so today will be an off day.
| | Well I didn't run last Friday so I could play basketball Friday night. During the game I jumped up to defend a guys shot. He waited until I was on my way down, then he jumped into my ribs on my left side. I am pretty sure I broke 2 or 3 ribs. So I haven't been running since. Walking and even breathing haven't been super fun lately, so I couldn't imagine running would feel very nice either.
Today I decided to give running a go. The first 1/4 of a mile were pretty painful, but I pushed through and was eventually able to bear the pain. I got 7 miles in. They were hard. I don't know if it has to do more with broken ribs, or taking a week off, but I felt out of gas only about 3 miles into the run.
7 miles, avg pace of 7:45

| | 6 miles late at night so I could eat more food and not feel bad about it.
avg pace was 8:01

| | Weather.com said it was 6 degrees but felt like -12 degrees (Farenheit). It snowed a few inches last night, but plows have come through and did a pretty good job of making it runnable. I dressed like it was 0 degrees, and I felt great. My face got a little warm at times, so I just pulled my face mask off and let my beard keep me warm.
I did 7 miles, avg pace was 7:50.

| | 10 miles, average pace of 7:28.
| | 5 miles. Snowy and -8 with wind chill (lots of layers of clothes).
| | Once again I have taken quite the break from running and have become really good at eating. I stopped running a while back because I got shin splints, so I thought I would take time off and let them recover. I also bought new shoes, but unfortunatley I went for price rather than quality. I took them out for the first time last thursday, and within half a mile my shins were killing me, even though I had taken a couple of months off. Running on shoes that were as soft as lumber and having gained quite a bit of weight didn't seem to help my shins at all.
So, I bought new running shoes again. They should be here in the next few days. Until then, I am wearing my old shoes and keeping my miles low. I obviously didn't want to keep it as low as 1.68 miles, but my calves were super tight during this run. Hopefully I can get some things figured out and get back to running.

| | 3 miles. Legs started to get stiff again around 2.5 miles. I was planning on doing 4 miles, but cut it short. I felt a lot better today than I did yesterday and last thursday. Hopefully I can just get a little better each day.
