| | This run was very easy and nice... |
| | I ran this with Kaelie and Aubrey, so the pace was faster than I am used to, but i was able to push myself and keep up the whole time! Thanks guys! |
| | This run was really slow and easy, but it also took about five years off of my life, thanks to one Taylor Shakespear. | |
| | Just wanted to say thanks to Aubrey for running with me! My legs won't ever be the same, but that is ok!:) |
| | pretty easy, but after the five miler yesterday, my legs felt like they were going to collapse. |
| | This was an interesting run, being in the rain and all. I went pretty slow, so it was quite easy! |
| | Really easy, and kaelie(?) gillespie is a wonderful running partner!:) |
| | really easy....nice to not be ready to die at the end of two miles! I had to take my bros somewhere, so something quick was to be had!:) |
| | I am pretty sure that this was my hardest run so far this year. My legs hurt and I was way nauseated. |
| | I went on the Green Springs run with Megan Gordon and Kinley(?). We went 3ish miles, and stopped for ice afterwards! I am oddly sore though. |
| | I ran the telegraph church run with Megan Gordon, then came back and did my first striders, so it ended up being about 5 miles. It actually wasn't all that bad. |
| | By the time i got home, it was about six, so i ran down to the new park on industrial road. |
| | this was hot nails...out of all of the runs, this one seems the shortest! |
| |
This was five with striders. These were harder than the last ones and I have no idea why!
|
| | This was my 2nd five miler, and it was ok! we went really slow, but we lived! |
| | This was a nice, easy run that helped to clear my head! |
| | Went to the old man hill for the first time, and actually had a good run with Aubrey McBride! |
| |
Note to self....never eat anything remotely sugary, greasy or fatty (the bad kind) before a run! I was dying by the end of this! |
| | With striders and weight room! It hurt really good, and the cool weather was nice! |
| | Because of time restraints, only able to go three! Good run! |
| | Went with Aubrey! It was a good run, and I finished with Liz Harrison (the last 100 feet, anyway!:))! |
| | I don't think that my legs were meant to do hills....EVER...but I survived, and I can now say that I have done Sunrise hills! |
| | It might have been four, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't because sunrise was yesterday....oh well! |
| | odd number, but because of time constraints, I was only able to go 1.75. |
| | 1st old man hills! wasn't too bad once we stopped! |
| | Nice and easy...felt really good! |
| | I am not sure how accurate that mileage is, but oh well! I don't think that I have ever had as many blisters at one time as I do now. I didn't wear the right socks, and paid for it dearly at running AND volleyball! |
| | This was a good run! the wind aired me out!:) |
| | I am still totally sick...didn't really have a choice! |
| | for my first sprint workout...it sucked. |
| | went slow...felt really good! |
| | 1st track meet! I survived both races (suprise) and didn't come in last (SHOCKER)!!!!! I am glad that it is over! |
| | i shoveled rocks for a few hours instead. |
| | I wasn't able to do the sprints because of where we are camping, but there were plenty of hills! |
| | because of piano and the handoff practicing, i wasn't able to get a run in. |
| | I feel like crap because I didn't run, and I missed a good workout. I was at region choir...oh well. |
| | first morning run! felt wonderful! |
| | race! PR'ed for the mile; broke 7 by 2 seconds! 6:58.68. |
| | felt nice, really easy. Tried that new stride thing with the ankle bars! weirdly enough, it made a huge difference! |
| | OWWWWW!!!!!! My first 7-miler, and it was a sprint workout. nice. Weightlifting yesterday didn't help much. I am so sore, especially in my shoulders and arms. |
| | I gave blood today, and actually tried to go to vball, but I almost passed out. |
| | Hiked Angels Landing! Does that count? |
| |
It was so hot! I ran with Kaelie, Abby, and Aubrey! FUN! |
| | i run to and from vball. really nice! |
| | this was the trek. I think that it most definitely counts as a workout. |
| |
Josh and I ran on the SUU indoor PE track. so thirty laps later, I was done. I felt great. |
| | this one was a bit harder, but it felt really good AFTERWARDS to get out and run. |
| | This is the first 4 miler I have done in a long time, and the fact that it was over what could possibly be the hardest trail so far. I cracked my tailbone last spring, and it was killing me, think from the way I ran down the numerous hills. Other than that, it was a pretty good run! |
| |
This run was really hard. It shouldn't have been, but it was. The hill going up to Maverick just about killed me.
| | This one was pretty easy. I kept up a pretty good pace, as compared to my past ones. |
| | wasn't as hard as expected! Thank goodness! |
| | This one was hard, most likely because I didn't get to bed until 12.30. |
| | We went to Green Springs on the Mustang Pass trail. It was a hard run on the way up, but on the way down I could relax and just let myself run. I was actually able to look at the scenery!:) | |
| | This was a really good run. I went at a bit faster pace, and it wasn't too bad! Happiness is when that happens! |
| | That hill in Hell's Hole was ridiculous. Other than that, it was good. | |
| | This run took forever...we kept a pretty consistent pace throughout the dirt part; slow but as consistent as we could without a watch. |
| | Alyssa Shurtz and I went to Target and back. We decided that we will have to bring money and stop at a restaurant during a run...and then waddle back.:) | |
| | The grass run was so much nicer because we did the loop first. The striders went by quickly, and there were clouds in the sky! How nice. | |
| | We accidentally took a wrong turn at the park, so we went a little bit too far. It was a wonderful run, and the trail was gorgeous. We went a little faster this time (I like to think so, anyway) since it was mostly level. The other 4 miles are the Kanarraville hike. |
| | I went the 4 miles, then went on a 5 mile hike in red cliffs, then went boating. I am not going to be able to move tomorrow. |
| |
Life Lesson: NEVER run in 111 degree heat after fasting all day. I was just so weak and tired when I started, it just got worse. At least it is over though. Weight lifting helped to push me and congrats to Hunter Kimzey, the newest record holder for planks at 5 minutes.
This morning was okay and I enjoyed the new route, but that hill was awful. Once we got over that it was ok.
| | This run was the hardest on the dirt mile so far. I was really dizzy and didn't feel well. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. | |
| | I feel so terribly bad about not running yesterday or Wednesday, but I ran today up on Cedar Mountain during Girl's Camp, and it was gorgeous. The altitude made it way hard ( I am sure that it didn't have anything to do with the quality of food I have eaten over the last couple of days) but Susan and I were able to bond and love it! So very fun! | |
| |
Such a bummer to die thinking at least you ran six, and then you find out that you didn't.:( This morning was better than expected. I was thinking nausea big time but I was only tired. I ran with Mariah and we came in only about 5 minutes behind the varsity, which is pretty good for me.
This afternoon was so nice. Even with the humidity, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. We stopped at Arctic Circle and the side of my shin was burning really bad. We went a bit slower on the way back because my leg was getting worse. It stopped hurting during weights and then I went to run to my car and couldn't because of my leg. Josh helped me stretch it, and lots of ice followed.
| | My legs were so tired. Even though this was only 4, keeping up a consistent pace was hard. The burning in my calves wasn't as bad, though they were way tender afterwards. |
| |
Today was interesting. The hill was hard, but not to the point that I was dead. I guess I need to work harder. I haven't had any completely abnormal pain in my leg today, so that is good.
This afternoon was ridiculously warm. I held an okay pace, and was able to run it in about 29 minutes. I was able to keep myself motivated by thinking about AC and the loveliness that it holds.
| |
This morning with only 3 on the grass was nice, and for once the striders felt good.
I wasn't able to make the afternoon team practice because I was babysitting, so I was able to go when it started sprinkling around 6:30. My legs were really tired, so I took it slow and just enjoyed it. |
| |
Very first Meat Grinder. It apparently wasn't the hardest way we could have done it, but I died anyway. The hardest part was the last two laps of the park. The grass was so deep and long, and it just seemed to take forever. My brother sometimes says that it "takes all I have to stay up with them." Today was one of those days.
| |
Today was my very first Formaster run. I made it up in 3:02. The run itself was really nice, the weather being nice and cloudy. I enjoyed being able to think and relax.
| | 4 in the morning, 4 at camp...a great first day! |
| | This morning was awful. I was sick the whole way, except for the mile and a half with tempo. That was a good ending. This afternoon was great, except that I couldn't stay and do weights because I had a Trilogy dress fitting and then teaching piano afterwards. |
| | I ran the Temple Quarry trail this morning with Josh. I forgot my running shoes, so I was reduced to wearing my Vans sneakers. I turfed it pretty hard around 1 1/2 miles in, so the right part of my body is pretty sore and tender. It was sort of funny because when I fell, I sort of made this little cry of pain (okay, a big cry of pain) and lo and behold, this handsome young stud with curly blond hair dressed in a Tech shirt with a weird looking Superman logo came to my rescue. Thankfully, I was able to finish the four miles. I went at a pretty good pace, and made it back from the saddle in about 15:10. We did the striders at the park across the street from the trailhead. |
| | wisdom teeth out today...no good. | |
| |
This morning's run was difficult. I was really nauseated, and kind of depressed when I took forty minutes to run only three miles. I am planning on jumping back into the full workouts next week, with this week to build back up as much as possible.
| |
Today was much better. I did my time splits by laps, which ended up being 2:45 to 3:02. The striders were wonderful in a really roundabout way!
PM- ran 4.25 miles up in Cedar while everyone else raced. I was bummed that I couldn't race, but that will come! |
| |
Ran down Hell's Hole and did hills 4x1 minute and 5x30secs. The workout itself wasn't awful. My legs did all right and I was able to work on moving my arms while going up the hills. On the way out, I had to stop because I thought I was going to throw up. I finally made it to the top of the hill, and then we slowly made our way back to the elementary school. Afterwards, while doing synchronized stretching, watching synchronized swimming, sitting on the blissfully cold floor of the rec center, and waterlogging ourselves, we (most of the girls) can say that we survived! Barely.
PM-I just went one this afternoon because I was late to practice, and I am still not up to full doubles again, especially after this morning. Thanks Coach Roberts for a nice run!
| | Today was an easy, tell all of your secrets kind of run. I felt really good, and was able to bond a little bit with the girls. | |
| | One and a half miles up in Brianhead in 60 degree weather, followed by some yoga/pilates. |
| |
AM-6 miles on the river trail. This run was really good. I was able to push myself hard and there wasn't any nausea. The weather couldn't have been better. We made it back in an hour.
PM-3 miles. I don't know why this was so hard, but the heat killed me! Other than that, it was nice to talk to Taylor and there was weights and plyos afterwards. |
| | This morning's workout was 4x1000s. My splits went like this: 4:30, 4:55ish, 4:38, 4:28. I felt relatively good, considering that this was my first major speed workout in a long time. The first one was pretty good, and I started with the rest of the girls. My cooldowns were too slow, which caused me to run the last one by myself. I (cheesy as this sounds) had to keep telling myself that I wasn't going to die, so I might as well push hard. All in all, it was a good workout! | |
| |
I got up at 6:30 and went three, which was very lovely.
However, this afternoon was...hot. The workout was 3x2mins, 4x400s. It could have been a lot worse, but I struggled. The 3x2 mins weren't that bad, and then the 400s took me down. The last two went a lot faster, and as I relaxed my face:), I was able to breathe easier. By the end of the whole practice, my voice was pretty much gone because of my cold.
| |
AM-2 miles. Mariah and I went early this morning because we had Trilogy. We just went two, but it felt really good to run in 80 degree weather, even if it was at 5:45 in the morning.
PM-2 miles. I was planning on the full workout, but early in the afternoon I was getting really bad headaches and my cold was acting up again. I ran up to Walmart and was doing fine until I tripped and my head did this weird whiplash thing. I didn't hit anything, but I became really dizzy and light-headed. So no striders or weights, so hopefully my body can heal a little bit by Saturday.
| |
| | Nice, easy 3 miler with 4x200s afterwards. It was a good run, and it makes me somewhat less nervous for tomorrow's race! |
| | Race: |
Hurricane (3 Miles) 00:25:39
My very first race! I met my goal of a sub 26 5K, and I am so happy! I feel like I could have gone much faster during the last half of the 2nd loop. I kind of hit a mental wall and wasn't able to get over it soon enough! And I want to publicly apologize to Coach Roberts for snapping at him and disregarding his well-meaning advice.:) A good first race, I think!
| | PM-5x3min repeats. I tried to stick with Taylor, but I ended up being about 20 yards behind her on the first one, and it went downhill from there. I managed to stay ahead of Sally for the rest of them, and I was able to finish strong. No AM this morning...still trying to get rid of this nasty cold/cough. I will be there on Wednesday! |
| | Race: |
PV Time Trial #1 (2 Miles) 00:18:24 | | I am not really sure of my time, except that it was in the 18s. This was a really hard race (can you call it that?) for me. I had had a crappy cough all day at school and I was already really tired from the workout yesterday. However, I was able to work on the small steps of a race, such as thinking that I can just get to that sign, as opposed to surviving the whole thing. Mentally, it was okay, physically, not so much.
| |
AM-3 miles. I wish that it would rain like that more often. Of course, if it did, I wouldn't appreciate it so much. I thoroughly enjoyed myself, and I was able just to loosen up and relax.
PM-5.5 miles with fartleks. I am not so sure who came up with the name, but in any case, by the second repeat, my legs had loosened up and I was able to push myself. I forgot my watch, so no splits. Again with the rain! So very wonderful!
| |
AM-2 miles. No one showed up to go early, so I ended up only going 2 to make it to Trilogy on time. It was a nice run, and on the way back I realized that I love to run by myself.
PM-3 miles with striders. It was so very humid today. I ran with Sally up to the Green Springs clubhouse. We started back with the varsity girls, and made it our goal to keep up with them until the freeway overpass. It worked, and pushed me just hard enough to make me feel like I had accomplished something!
| |
AM-3 miles. Lovely run!
PM-3.5 miles w/ 4x200. My legs are pretty much dead. My head was okay during this, but not great. I was able to stay steady, but slow.:( Nervous for tomorrow!
| | Race: |
SUU Invite (3 Miles) 00:25:35, Place overall: 42 | | I was really happy with this race...mentally it was good, and this report would have been a lot better if I had done it on Saturday. I started out slower this time, so I would push myself at the end. I was able to push myself, but too late. Note to self...start out faster. |
| | 3 in the morning...5 in the afternoon. This run was horrible. It was so hot and I did not drink enough water to get me through it. I went really slow on the striders...I just felt like I didn't have anything else to give. I know better than that. |
| | 4x3 minute repeats with 3 min recovery. I am way sore from weights yesterday. This was sort of a messed up run. We started together, but by the second one we couldn't hear the timer, so we went too far. Coach let us borrow his watch, so we were able to finish that accurately (ish). Coach's inspirational speech almost (ALMOST) made me want to do one more repeat so I could show that my pain threshold isn't really as low as it seems. Ah well. I will just kick it in the butt tomorrow. |
| |
AM-3 miles. Ran by myself again, and enjoyed it! I was able to get a few kinks out of my legs. I love morning runs!
PM-5.5 miles 3x2min repeats, 4x400s. This was a really good workout. My legs were really sore and tight. Once I got going though, I was able to not be freaked out by the pain that I would inflict on myself. Eventually they worked themselves out. I took Coach Robert's advice to take them one at a time, and to push as a hard as possible on each one. Weirdly enough, it worked.:) My 400 splits went 2:00, 2:00, 1:55, and 1:53. I was able to stay positive.
| | AM-Easy 3 miles with striders. I did my workout in the morning so I could go to pit rehearsal. |
| | Race: |
Dixie invite (3 Miles) 00:27:46, Place overall: 62 | | This was such a hard race. I went into it already mentally drained from the long day beforehand. Good things happened, but it was hard. I was able to push myself on the hills, just like in practice, but my ankles were killing me, and my time ended up being two minutes slower. I think back on it and I can't think of a point where I wasn't pushing myself. |
| | I slept through my alarm this morning, so no early run. In the afternoon, it was awful. I teach piano on Wednesdays now, so I just went 4 plus striders. I have not felt that sick and bleh since the stupid track workouts. |
| | Easy 3 in the morning...piano after school. |
| |
AM-3miles. Really nice and humid.
PM-5.5 miles. 3x2 min repeats, 4x400s. We ran to Harts on our warmup, and halfway there it started to pour! We were soaked! WE LOVED IT! I was able to keep up with Chancie for all of the repeats, which I consider to be an accomplishment. We did our 400s, but when I finished my third one this random old guy without a shirt and in spandex came up to me. His name is Dennis Budd, and at 63 years old he was training for the Iron Man World Championships in Hawaii on October 13th. He talked to me for twenty minutes about the importance of form, especially the motion of the arms. He helped me with my arms and gave me some drills to run to fix them. The drills he gave basically built off of what was on that sheet at camp, but more specific. He said that when you are training, you need to exaggerate your arm movement and to put your arms especially wide, so in a race, when you go to your natural form, your arms will be in the right spot. He also said that leaning forward with your hips (again, just like camp) will make you go faster. There was a bunch more stuff about how to step and whatnot, and I really enjoyed it. I then ran my last 400 with him observing and yelling what I needed to change. My time was 1:36. |
| |
AM-easy 3
PM-5.5 with a huge workout that is too long to type. My thirty second repeats went well. Kaelie wasn't there yet so I was able to lead out and to run hard. I stayed with Kaelie and Chancie on the 800s; times were 3:26 and 3:24. Thousands were hard. We did the Indian Run with the Level One and some Twos for the first one. Then most of them stopped because they only had one, so Kaelie and I finished together. I was able to stay right with her for the last two! She wasn't feeling that great, but that is completely besides the point.:)
| | Race: |
PV Time Trial #2 (2 Miles) 00:16:24
Very good run/race. I got around two minutes better this time and was able to stay positive the whole time. I passed a couple of people on the stadium hill on the first and second laps...weird to think that actually works. |
| |
AM-easy 3
PM-4 mile run with 1 mile Indian run, 4x100s, 4xstadium hill sprints. The 4 miler went really well...congrats to Miquelle for her first 4 miler since her concussion! None of the level 2 girls were able to do the Indian run, so I hopped in with the level 2 boys on theirs. It went really well, but then I had to do the last two laps alone.:( The 100s, can I just say, are a lot nicer than 200s. I was able to hit them hard and get them done with Sarah. The hill sprints were relatively nice to do. They pushed me hard, and now that I have raced a couple of times, I can see how they can help pass people. Weights were death...I am always so sore afterwards.
| |
AM-easy 3
PM-Michigan. It was horrible. I almost died in the last 400. I was so discouraged when Coach told me just to go right to the 400. In the previous 800s, I did not go fast enough. Not nearly. From what people were telling me, it was supposed to hurt a lot worse. I just need to learn not to be afraid of the pain and that it will go away after I am done. I wanted to get B-standard, but I was not remotely close. I guess I will just have to wait for the next one.
| |
no run, with pit and piano and royalty... |
| | It is so depressing to run by yourself...knowing that your team is up and racing. | |
| |
AM-this was awful. We had 4x30F secs, 2x800I, and 2x1000T. I wasn't planning on running the workout. I just didn't want to run by myself so I was going to run the one mile warmup and then finish up with some 800 loops. Oh well. I pushed hard, which was good. The 30 second repeats and the 800s were hard, but doable(?). The thousands were what killed me. When Coach Holt said that it would be Indian run style, I was freaking out. Me, actually having to keep up at Rachel's and Mia's pace. The first one, I stayed until I felt I wouldn't be able to hold up the fast pace anymore, and then dropped out, which was at the 400ish mark. I finished at my own pace. The next one I almost (ALMOST) considered easier. I started up in front, so I could set the pace. I hope I went fast enough. I was dying, so I think that works. This time, I was able to stay with the group until the 500ish mark. I was hurting so bad, so I admit, I walked for like 15 meters. By the time I got started again, Chancie had come over and kept me going for the last 500 meters. I was glad afterwards that I did it, but I was 10 minutes late to Trilogy. oh well.
PM-easy three with 4xstadium hills and four 100s. I just stayed with Chancie and called it good. Weights and plyos afterwards.
| | PM-Michigan...a lot better this time. I actually did the whole thing! I was right on track with the times for the first set of 800s. As per usual, I started to go slower by the next three 800s. However, I was able to stay focused and to push harder. My ending time was 35:04. I am not sure yet if that is B-standard or not, but Liz said that B-standard is somewhere in the 35 minute range, so here's hoping. Striders afterwards. | |
| | Race: |
Cedar Invite (2.95 Miles) 00:23:45, Place overall: 42
AM-easy 3
PM-This is probably what I would call the best race yet. I was so very nervous beforehand...I don't know why. I wanted to push myself, just like Coach Roberts said, so I told myself that I was going to start fast and stay that way. I did, and I settled into my groove a lot faster and better than the last few races. I was able to pass a lot of people. I stayed positive and told myself that this is my one and only XC season, so I might as well push hard and go out with a bang. I did just that, and was able to knock 1:49 off of my PR! I am so grateful for all of the JV girls who, even though we don't win, went and worked so very hard and did their best! |
| | easy 3 at the stake fun run. |
| | Race: |
Snow Canyon Invite (3 Miles) 00:25:29 | | This was an awful race. I started out really well ( the first AND second time) but by the time I started the second lap I was dying. My legs just weren't working. I had Santa Claus is coming to town stuck in my head(thank you liz), which kept me going. I was able to push it up hills, which was good, but other than that, nothing else really went well. I was extremely dizzy and nauseated when I finished. I don't think that my mind was fully on this race because of the choir concert right after. |
| | ran this morning with chancie because of pit and piano after school. | |
| | NO run...we went up to conference. |
| | Race: |
Region 9 (3 Miles) 00:24:42, Place overall: 31
I had a really good race. I was going to make a bracelet out of my washer, but I forgot, so I just drew it on my wrist, along with the word "focus". It really helped to have that to see so that when I got distracted, I would see it and concentrate again on where I was going and my pace. I really loved this race!
|
| | easy three..had to teach piano. we got started late so I wasn't able to do the full four. |
