Went to the base and realized the battery on my Garmin was completely dead so I just decided to run two laps on the path. That path makes you feel like poo but that's okay. Afterward I went in and did some weight training on my chest, shoulders and triceps. Not too shabby.

| Went on a nice little out and back on Antelope Drive. First time using my fuel belt so that was pretty cool. I also ended up not using a watch. It was nice to just run without any of that stuff. My legs were feeling kinda toasted by the end. Guess that's what happens when you don't run for a week and a half. |

| Just went on a loop run in Layton. My legs felt like lead after about two miles. I figured a nice gel and a bit more running would help but it really didn't. I did some light leg work yesterday and I guess it caught up to me. Hopefully I will feel better Saturday. |

| Went on a nice little ride out at the base perimeter road. Instead of making the loop, I did an out-and-back twice. Figured it was better than going through all the traffic. | Add Comment |

| Ran from Hillside Ln up to the top of Millcreek Canyon. To the top is about 11 miles from the house we were at and then we ran one mile back down to where a truck was parked for us. (Thank Heavens!) That was one beast of a run. Lots of deathly uphill. |

| First day of Cross Country practice!!! We went on an afternoon run before dinner around Sugar House Park. My calf was still feeling tight from Sat but hopefully it won't impede me during the retreat. |

| Went running with Ian (cross country teammate) up the canyon road for a couple of miles. My calf was yelling at me considering it was a climb the whole way and then on the way back down it was feeling quite painful. This worries me because tomorrow is going to be a lot of running. Hopefully the Aleve will kick in. |

| Today was beast. We started the morning with a trail run by Weber State University. Ian and I got way lost and couldn't find a trail that just kept going. We ended up running for about 45 minutes though. A little while later we played a pretty competitive game of Ultimate Frisbee for an hour straight. This did not help the calf muscles too much but it wasn't too bad. We then did a scavenger hunt which required a bit of running to find the dog we were looking for. After that we had another trail run for about 20 minutes. This was just a light recovery run for tomorrow's tempo run. |

| Today was our tempo run. We did a 10 minute warm up to start off on the trail. After that we took off along the road for a 5 miler. My first mile was at 5:55 and then we slowed a bit after that. I stayed up with the teammates for the most part. I ended up finishing less than 20 seconds behind the two in front of me with a time of about 30:25. Considering it's the start of the season and all we did yesterday and that we were at altitude I was pretty happy with that time. It was about a 6:05 AP :) Then we did a 15 minute cool down jog during which I felt like an old man. |

| Best run I have probably ever had! I started at 8 pm when it had cooled down a bit at an AP of 8. I went down to 17th South and dropped to 7th East. I followed that to Liberty where I looped once and then continued to 4th South. I ran down 4th South to State Street and went up to Temple Square. From there I ran up North Temple to 13th East and stopped at a gas station. They charged 25 cents for a cup of water which I didn't have. A skater kid inside was nice enough to buy it for me. I drank most of it and then I emptied a salt packet into the rest because i had forgotten my electrolyte capsules. After that I went the 2.5 miles on 13th over to my house. This was seriously the best run ever! I loved seeing all the night life and it felt really good just going at a slow pace. I ended up with an AP of about 7:40. My legs were pretty tired by the end and I had a nice blister on my little toe but it was good times :)

| Did a run North along 13th and went up Sunnyside to Foothill then back to 17th and down. My legs felt like lead and the climb from 13th to Foothilll did not help matters much. Hopefully tomorrow I will feel a bit better. | Add Comment |

| Group run to out to 27th South and then back on 9th East. At the beginning of the run we formed into a nice formation with one on the inside whom we referred to as Mr. President from that point on. I felt a lot better than yesterday and was able to maintain our quick pace for the whole run. There were lots of low-hanging trees though and those make me angry. Unfortunately my shoes are a bit strange and they cause my foot to slip a bit down. My little toe on my left foot has been taking some abuse and it feels like the skin is peeling off. Not really sure what to do about that. |

| Went to Payne Gym at 6:30 am and did some weight training on the legs. Right after that we ran out to Sugar House Park and did 8 intervals of 800 meters at 2:45 or under. Beastly... We kept our split spread at no more than 5 seconds so we were right on each time. Then we came back and did some core. I went and got in a ice bath for 12 minutes and it pretty much felt way good. | Add Comment |

| Did some lifting this morning followed by a 6 miler around the area. I am guessing we were hitting a sub 7 pace. We then did strides at the end for some speed. |

| BEASTLY SPEED WORK!!! We ran out to Liberty Park for a warm-up run and then did some mile repeats. He had us do about a 5:30 pace and we did 4 intervals. I did okay for the first 3 but the last one was a huge mental challenge. We started out and my legs were burning like crazy! It took everything to finish in good time. |
