| Figured out a new route from my house that has about 2 miles of dirt road / no rocks along a canal add the hill loop to it and made it 10K. Not something I'm going to do everyday but it adds some more options. I'm getting a bit fat, really need to run consistently.

| 4 Shelley Spud Run Today. They turned the race into a 5K color run. Oh well, at least I wasn't in charge today and I got to run. This is usually a whole family event and they did a little over a mile race for the kids. So I ran the first little more than a mile with my 9 year old. Took us probably close to 11 minutes. After I dropped him off I decided to finish the 5K and picked off everyone other than a few Jr. Cross Country runners. Finished in just over 23 minutes (includes the super slow first mile). The color was fun, people seemed to enjoy it. Much lower stress not doing the longer distances so I bet it stays just a 5K. Moved some pipe and changed water on a flood irrigated field and went to work.

| Last week was rough, I planned on running Monday morning before I flew out but my hamstrings were still extremely sore from splitting wood with an axe on Saturday so I didn't dare try running. In Chicago Monday to Thursday and that usually means very limited time for anything but work and sleep. Friday I got kicked by a cow in my leg, couldn't hardly sleep Friday night, so no running on Saturday. Today I luckily got in 5 easy miles. Now out to work on the farm. |
