AM: Hard Effort up Providence Canyon.  Took my Strava CR's back!

Later: Met up with Victor running the TOU Marathon and ran various parts with him.  His first marathon and he broke 5 hours with very minimal training.  He was stoked.

That's about it. Ready for the Bear100 next weekend.  I will do two easy easy runs Mon/Tues then nothing until Friday Morning.  Excited!

Good luck and have fun next weekend Cody!

You could have won some easy money at TOU!

Good luck this weekend. I'll be following online. Anyone else I know running it?

If I ever unretire from racing, I might have to repeat the Bear. In my entire ultra career, I only repeated 2 races.

Thanks Rob and Jon -

Luke is running again. Jared Campbell, Dom Grossman, not sure who else you know. Should be reasonably well represented. Sub 22 hours, with a hopeful shot at breaking your time (20:50)

20:49:47 (so basically 20:50)

20:49:38 per my watch. No way I was off by 9 seconds.

You break 21 hours, then we'll talk about my seconds... :)

Next Weekend – The Bear 100 Mile – Logan, Utah

Second a year ago, this year’s race is Luke Nelson’s to lose. Nelson was also fourth here way back in 2009.

Apart from Nelson, a large group of similarly-skilled runners will be chasing a podium position, or potential win should Nelson falter.

This group includes:

Mick Jurynec, third at the 2013 Bear 100

Tristan Williams, fourth at this year’s Cayuga Trail 50 Mile

Jesse Haynes, 10th at the 2014 Western States 100

Jesse Rickert, fifth at the 2015 San Juan Solstice 50 Mile

Zac Marion, third at the 2015 Bryce 100 Mile

The women’s field is similarly tiered with Angela Shartel a heavy favorite. Shartel hasn’t missed this year, winning the Cruel Jewel 100 Mile and taking second at the Black Canyon 100k.

Jenn Shelton is also among the female field. Although no longer racing frequently, she of course has the talent to challenge for the win.

Cody

Good luck at the Bear! Is there a way that I can follow your progress throughout the day?

Cody - somehow I missed that you were back in Logan. Good things happen when debugging. We are doing some construction at our house, the crew is coming to move the antenna which would disrupt Fast Running Blog, so I am setting up a backup server at Linode to deal with that. We could still have some disruptions due to misconfiguration, of course, but hopefully not for long.
