Early in the week, I was waking up at night in pain. I am convinced that the injuries are tendon related. The tight muscles in my legs (possibly) caused the tendons to be inflamed and strained. By tuesday the left leg felt better, but the right was still barking pretty good. By wednesday, it didn't hurt to walk any longer. It is feeling pretty good right now, but I have been suffering through a cold that wiped me out pretty good. By next week, I might be up and kicking again. Hopefully, I might even get to run a bit and enjoy the lousy weather.
I would rate it as a failure. My right knee had a sharp pain and was pretty wobbly. It felt like it would give out at any point. I took a few walking breaks to see if things would loosen up. And by things, I mean the muscles in my legs. I think a serious issue is my hamstring. I did get an appointment for saturday to have a masseuse work on it. Unfortunately, that was the earliest time I had available. Looking forward to it.
4 awesome miles to the end of planet walk and back. Awesome, cause I saw the sun for the first time all week and even enjoyed the clean air. What a nice morning. The leg thing held up reasonably well and actually seemed to get a bit better after halfway. Its a bit sore but not painful right now. Improving? Maybe? Off to a 2 hour massage shortly. Sweet!
Not sure if it was the massage or the 4 miles I ran on Saturday (or both), but it has set me back a few days. I think I have finally diagnosed the problem. Tendonitis. The massage sure was nice, there were numerous knots and tight/sore spots all over. They were definitely contributing to the pain. There were a lot of muscles pulling on the inflamed section.
I have been icing and keeping all activity to a minimum. It is improving daily and might actually be healing. Its been nice to take a break, but I sure do miss the outdoors. One of these days I will be back at it. Better wait until it stops hurting though.
Well actually it was in the snow, but I tried. I broke out my new micro spikes I got and gave them a shot. They seemed to work great, but I was forging a new trail that was at times mid shin deep and others just to the top of the shoe. I can see the value of the extra traction on the packed stuff, but on this powder, it didn't do that much. It was great to get out in the 7 degree weather and run some hills. I ran the deer fence trail out and back. Those hills are a lot steeper when you are out of shape and when they are covered in snow. Very slow going, but pain free. Definite improvement this week. Horray.
