Easy run.

6:45 am, 56-59° F, 65% humidity, winds calm, partly cloudy.

I didn't want to run when I got up this morning. I always feel a little out of sorts and like I don't want to run when I get up. I just have to force myself to get out the door and then I feel better. And I've got two races that I'm committed to (have paid money for) this summer, and so I've got to keep running.

I still don't have a training plan. I think I'll just work on base miles for a while and bag any formal speed work, except maybe hill sprints once a week, and just run faster if/when I feel like it

It was 6.06 today instead of just 6 because I ran for exactly one hour and that's how far I got in one hour.

Easy run.

6:50 am, 62-70° F, 49% humidity, winds 3 NE, sunny.

Another morning of dragging my reluctant self out the door. I slept a little later than I intended to. Now my whole morning is behind, once again.

After I finished my run, I was standing on my front port stretching, and my next-door neighbor's sprinklers came on. So when I finished my stretching, I took off all my electronic devices and then went and lay down on my neighbors front lawn and let the sprinklers get me all wet. I only stayed there for a few seconds and then got up. I was just in time, because right after that the sprinklers turned off.

Easy run + 8 x 8 sec. hill sprints.

6:49 am, 75° F, 27% humidity, wind 5 SW, mostly cloudy.

I got up earlier this morning than I did yesterday, but didn't make it out the door any earlier. I dawdled more this morning.

I just ran my regular 4-mile loop and then did hill sprints. I got a good run through some sprinklers during the third mile and they got my lower half pretty wet. Then I worried about chafing, but I think I'm okay.

Usually when I'm doing hill sprints, I run to the bottom of the hill and then do the first hill sprint and then walk down the hill between hill sprints after that. The result is I do a little walking before each hill sprint except the first, and the first one tends to be slower than the rest. So today I stopped as soon as I got to 4 miles, which was at the top of the hill sprint hill, and walked down the hill before starting the first hill sprint. As a result, my first hill sprint was actually one of my fastest.

Barbie walked past the bottom of my hill sprint hill just as I was walking down ready to start the 7th hill sprint. We said "hi" to each other. I believe this is the first time I've spoken to her. I noticed that she was wearing a Garmin. This woman is such a twig. She probably weighs 90 pounds dripping wet and half of the weight is her hair.

AP: 10:02. Splits: 10:45, 9:50, 9:28, 9:27. Pace on hill sprints: 6:32, 6:46, 6:40, 7:01, 6:42, 6:46, 6:48, 6:29.

No run today. I was thinking about doing 8, but my left thigh was bothering me a bit last night and I decided to sleep in and take a leisurely bath instead of running this morning. It is what it is.

Easy run.

6:46 am, 60-65° F, 47% humidity, winds calm, sunny.

By the time I was a little over halfway through this run I was thinking I wasn't going to get any sprinklers today because I had seen several wet sidewalks where the sprinklers were on earlier but were off when I went by. I also saw a couple of sprinklers on the other side of the street from where I was running, but I didn't want to cross over. But then right before the end of the 3rd mile I got a set of about 6-8 sprinklers all in a row and I ran through them and get my lower half pretty wet. And then in the last mile, I found two other smaller sets of sprinklers, with just a couple of sprinklers each, that I went through. So in the end it was a good sprinkler morning.

I ran for 40 minutes, thus the extra .08.

Easy run.

8:21 am, 67-72° F, 65% humidity, wind 2 NE, really sunny.

I didn't have anyone to run with today, and since I'm not really on a training plan now, I didn't have any motivation to get up and run. So I slept late and then finally dragged myself out the door. I spent the whole run arguing with myself about how far I should run. My target was 8 miles, but several times I contemplated turning off and coming home a shorter way. Don't laugh at me that I think that 72 is hot, but I was really uncomfortable on this run. I didn't have a lot of luck with sprinklers since it was later in the morning, but I did get one small set in the first mile and another small set in the last mile. However they didn't so much for me because I my legs dried off so quickly after I passed through them.

I've got to get busy now. We're having my daughter's birthday party this afternoon. Her birthday was last Sunday, but we're having the party today because today's the only day we could get the gym (she's having a gymnastic party). Unfortunately, a lot of people are out of town and there won't be many people there.
