6.5 mile easy Monday morning run.

8 mile run this evening

Did a nice run this evening. Wind was blowing a little, but it was a good thing. It felt a lot cooler than the last few days. Everything was clicking. Just one of those runs where you wish it was race day. I guess my legs and body are starting to feel ready to play hard again. Couple more weeks until Teton Dam Marathon.

6.5 miles to wake up this moring at 5 a.m.

9.7 miles at the track

Morning run was just blah. Going out and running to get in some miles for the day. Evening track workout with Steve and one other guy who's name slips my mind right now. Workout was this 20x 400 at goal of 1:20 or lower with a 200m jogg to recover between each 400.

Warm up one mile

Cool down just over a mile

The disclaimer here is we had a pretty hard headwind to deal with. So all the 1:18's would have been at least 16's and everything else a couple seconds faster too.

1. 1:18

2. 1:18

3. 1:18 (found an easy groove here and hit a lot of 1:18's)

4. 1:16

5. 1:17

17. 1:18

18. 1:18 (groovin it)

19. 1:18

20. 1:10 (pushed it to finish up)

Wind Sucks!

Glad to have pushed all of them out. Glad to have stayed under goal of 1:20- ended up being 1:18 or lower. Can tell I might feel this one for a day or so.

6.5 mile run at 5 a.m.

7 mile trail run this evening

This morning I was a litte sore and just tried to do an easy recovery run from the speed workout on Tuesday. By the end of the run I was feeling pretty good.

This afternoon I did an all dirt 7 miler up in the desert reserve. Legs feeling better- I'm just trashed from everything else we've had going this week.

Now it's off to Viva Las Vegas. I may end up running a 10k this weekend down there just for fun.

8 miles this moning up in the reserve

5 miles this evening in Vegas

I was feeling better after the track workout but it's still hanging around. I not sure why I signed up for the 10k down here but I'm going to do it now that I've paid. It will be fun I guess because it's my wife's first road race ever.

Hope to relax all day Friday and get the legs ready to race.

Got up and did a run up around the Palms and Rio casino's and back to our room at the Monte Carlo.

Only did this one run today because I feel like crap and have that race tomorrow.

My wife came up with this idea to go run this 10k while we were in Vegas. So I thought I'd go do it. Wow! This was the hardest 10k I've ever raced. Even harder than my legs of the Del Sol Relay. It was located right up by the LDS Temple in Las Vegas. If you think Vegas you think flat but this is one of the only hill areas in town.

Splits went like this.

1. 5:49- Left high school and started the long uphill

2. 6:16- Hill gets steeper here. Pack startes to fall off.

3. 5:52-Still uphill with just a little level section

4. 6:19- Really steep section. Half of this mile is up to the turn around and the other half is back down.

5. 5:09- A good all downhill mile

6. 5:39- by now I can't catch the lead guy and I'm way ahead of the 3rd place guy so I just bring it in easy. No surges just smooth pace.

.26 1:30 Finally done.

We started out at a pretty fast pace for this course. One guy went out soo fast I knew he was going to choke. After we finished the first mile and a half the lead pack was down to about 5 and three miles into it we were at only 3 of us. Just after the three mile mark the guy who won the race surged and I didn't go with him thinking that I'd for sure run him down later. I pulled ahead of the 3rd place guy for good right after the halfway point and then started to try and reel in the leader. But he was gone. I let him slip away and didn't really care.

After I finished I ran back up the course a mile and a half to find my wife Mik'L and ran with her back to the finish. She did a good job on this very demanding 10k course.

We stayed for the awards to find out that I got this 3ft tall trophy for 2nd place... a little over the top, but oh well. I'd rather have gotten a medle and a gift certificate.

MIle total for the week was a little low but I hadn't planned on this race and needed to get ready for it. Also with the speed workout that we did on Tuesday night my legs have been feeling it all week. One more good stronge week and then it's time to get ready for Teton.
