My wife called me an "idiot" for going on a ride today. But she was home and the weather was nice. I needed to see how the bike was holding up after the wreck last week. So I headed out. The shoulder was so so and there were a few really "ouch" moments when I put too much weight on it or pulled up hard. More than anything I'm super "gun shy" now while riding on the side of the road... especially when cars are passing right next to me. I'm guessing it'll take some time before that fear starts to break down.

Anyways I road out to the airport and back. Looped the park both directions. 24.3 miles at a 21.8 mph avg. 69F and sunny. I had on a summer outfit and felt good all things considered.

9.2 mile run after the ride. Got home and wanted to keep rolling out in the sunshine. Mik'L just rolled her eyes as I came in and changed cloths then told her I was going out running. She said I can't say a word about my shoulder hurting because I won't relax and let it heal. But it felt doable... so I ran. Again the Hokas really have helped with my hip area injury. Enough cushioning and bounce to help the foot come through the stride. Middle B-hills loop then extended back around Little Valley. 6:58 min mile avg. Better than I would have guessed.

"Ride like you are invisible" because chances are the cars are not going to see you or respect your space. Also, wear high visibility clothing. I have started wearing a high vis reflective vest whenever I ride. It is not super stylish but I just don't trust other drivers. Good luck with your recovery and safe riding.
