7.2 mile run this morning up through GS and then over the trail back home. Last night could have been a big mistake. The legs are very trashed now. After the deep tissue work over with April the other day I was going to take it very easy until the race on Saturday. Then like a bone head I went and ran this race last night and now I'm in the boat I'm in. The diaphragm was tight this morning for the first time in a couple weeks, but by the end of the run it felt o.k.  The plan for the rest of the week is to rest and run everything very easy, and short.

10.5 mile bike ride with Mik'L = 2.6 miles of easy running. 6.5 miles this morning and 4 miles tonight over to the church and back.

I decided not to run this afternoon because the body is just trashed. I'll put in a solid core workout and then go to a ward party.

We went to the ward party on our bikes. Mik'L bought a bike yesterday and now we can go on cool bike rides together.

you are so competative. Your right, you should of held back. Good luck at Bryce. I wish i was going but Deseret News is calling me.

From superfly on Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 22:26:33

Good luck at Des News Billy. Don't kill yourself, just get in a good run and save some for STG.

That's real fun Clyde; maybe you guys can get matching Disneyland shirts and wear them around town too!

From Superfly on Thu, Jul 17, 2008 at 17:51:08

Dave- I was thinking more of matching slap bracelets and cool refillable adult sized mugs.

From Paul Petersen on Thu, Jul 17, 2008 at 18:01:29

Clyde, so you're not running Des News Marathon anymore?

From Superfly on Thu, Jul 17, 2008 at 18:11:11

Paul- After that 3 weeks of injury weirdness back at the end of May I decided that I wasn't going to be where I wanted to be for Des News and opted out. A part of me still wishes I'd have just stayed on course with the original plan to run it but another part of me is glad that I'm not. I'm going to try and do one more half marathon this summer than last summer to kind of fill the void of not doing Des News.

What do you think?

From Paul Petersen on Thu, Jul 17, 2008 at 18:15:23

You will be better off in the long run for not doing Des News. There is little to gain in that race, and much to lose.

You should come up to Logan and run the TOU Half. It's a Circuit race this year and should be very competitive, plus it's a fast course with almost guaranteed cool weather and a tailwind.

From Kim on Thu, Jul 17, 2008 at 18:24:58

I'll bet there is a big part of Mik'L that is glad you opted out! Glad to see there is a brain in that running head of yours! You've gotta be careful!

From Superfly on Thu, Jul 17, 2008 at 23:36:44

Kim- I know sometimes I surprise myself.

Paul- I would like to do TOU... maybe I will if Logan wants to go up and split the gas. Maybe I'll do it instead of Provo River.

From Paul Petersen on Fri, Jul 18, 2008 at 10:06:18

Clyde - wait a minute...if you're not running Des News, then why are you not on our Northwest Passage Relay team?

From Jon on Fri, Jul 18, 2008 at 10:11:41

Better go buy a plane ticket now, Clyde. It's a prettier race than Del Sol and you have a good chance to win it.

From Superfly on Fri, Jul 18, 2008 at 10:30:33

I wish I would have been planning on doing it all along. But it's to hard to try and make it happen last minute. You guys are going to have fun though.

From Jon on Fri, Jul 18, 2008 at 10:34:30

It's not hard- just buy a ticket to Seattle! They'll pick you up at the airport, give you a free massage, dry clean your clothes, let you run 3-4 times, feed you, then drop you off back at the airport. :)

From Paul Petersen on Fri, Jul 18, 2008 at 10:44:30

Yeah, the planning and logistics and rides have been taken care of. You would just need to show up and run. Take Mikl; there should be room in the vans.

From Superfly on Fri, Jul 18, 2008 at 11:04:28

Your pleas are tempting, very tempting. However at this point there is no way we can come. Right now I'm trying to sell my wife on a trip to Logan on Aug 23 to come do the TOU half.

From Jon on Fri, Jul 18, 2008 at 11:17:55

Do both! TOU half is good, but I would say NWP would be a more unique experience. If it helps convince Mik'l to do both, you guys can stay in our guest bedroom for the 1/2 marathon.
