Big workout

Ran the same workout I did one month ago before Modesto. 5 mile warm up then 13 mile tempo and a 2 mile cool down back home. The warm up miles were around the park and over to the trail system through B-hills. Then started the tempo on the club 10 mile river loop going clockwise. The tempo starts where the trail comes into B-hills above the river by the cliff.  After hitting one lap I just overlapped back around the inner DC loop and back up to River Road. I didn't go into the workout with big plans of "hammering" anything. But I did want to hit things semi hard just to help the run get over with. I ended up running really strong and hit a PR on the course of a 6:19 avg for the entire 20 miles- one month ago I hit a 6:23 avg.

For some reason the first miles are slow on both runs. First miles heads towards the freeway then over by Pilot truck stop. The next mile should be fast as it's downhill into Bloomington. But it must just take me a long time to get going.

On the 13 mile tempo section I ran it 1:20 faster today than last time. Here are my splits today.

6:31, 6:15, 6:03, 5:57, 6:00, 5:45, 5:31, 5:42, 5:31, 5:58, 5:37, 5:39, 5:55

Solid run and I guess dare I say improvement over the last time. Never felt amazing but the times were solid across the board. It was cool this morning at 35 F and actually dropped some frost that did damage on my tomato plants and some flowers. Bummer.

I like this 20 miler A LOT. For some reason the way it's laid out it just makes your brain feel like your not running 20 miles- and it helps that most of the run was before the sun came up.

Glad to get it in. Came home and went right to work on mowing and edging the lawn. Then took Myler to the city park for a Easter egg hunt- then over to the Arts festival and bought some art. Now I'm trashed and will watch golf- sucks that Tiger blew it yesterday.

A definite improvement over the last time you did that workout. Great job!

Way to go Clyde. I'm impressed that you've bounced back so well from Modesto. You've been able to keep the miles up and if you are hitting the tempos faster, that is a great sign.

Thanks guys. It's been fun not being super jack from Modesto so I could keep the ball rolling and get ready for another. That's the first "true" flat course I've ran and I decided flat courses don't trash you half as bad.
