PR at the St. George Marathon in 2009. Didn't make the Lottery. Doing the Top Of Utah instead. It's a 4:30 minute tougher race. I Still hope to PR!!

Yo Cheston. When's your triathlon? How many laps you do in 45 minutes?
Oh and have you ever done a century (100 mile bike ride)? If so, what was your time and do you have any suggestions for a smooth ride? I am thinking about plotting out a 25 mile loop and having a food/water station and stopping off every lap there for refreshment. What do you think? Any suggestions would be awesome. Many thanks.
I've never done a century. In fact, this is going to be my first triathlon ever. The race is August 9th. Half Triathlon. 1.2 mile swim. 56 bike and 13.1 run.
All of my swim training has been in the lake. I've never even worked out in a pool. I have no idea how far I go in 45 minutes. I hope it's far enough, or I'm going to hate life come race day.
Putting out food every 25 miles sounds like a good idea. I would make sure you had a water bottle carrage on your bike and drank at least every 10 miles. Carrying a couple of gel packs on the bike might not be a bad idea either.

Well there aren't that many scheduled century rides around where I live, and as I've never done a bike race I wouldn't want to get upset too much when an 80 year old gramps kicked my butt. I was thinking of using mapmyride.com and coming up with ~25 or 25.1 mile loop and parking my car at start with a cooler of extra bottles and gu and such. As it is I carry 2 x 24 oz bottles on my bike, usually one of gatorade, one of water.
As far as your swimming, I think 45 minutes should be enough since you also run and bike for endurance. I was talking to a lady who just completed a full olympic tri up in Lake Placid, NY and it is one of the hilliest ones out there. She said that as far as biking and swimming, once you have done about 3/4 of the distance in training you are set. Kind of like how they say for a marathon don't really dabble much past 22 or 23. You're ready to slice and dice man. Hopefully I get to see the race report. I'm going away to Canada from Aug. 7 to 14. I will try to check in though.
Keep up the hard training and you will smoke them come race day bud.
