Personal:

My name is Eugenio I was born near Rome, Italy, in 1972 and lived there for 29 years, then in 2001 I moved to Salt Lake City for work and for seven years and one month that was my home, since 2008 I am back to Italy. I started running in 2003 when I realized I could not ride my bike throughout the Utah winter.

Five slow miles on a flat road to recover from yesterday.

It was a perfect night with a cloudy sky, a light breeze and a few rain drops here and there.

I started at 6min/km and finished at 5min/km, 10 miles in 1:28, I felt really great. With 100 days like this in the next 4 months I would be on top of the world.

I started with a recovery run and finished at good pace. Overall a 10k in 55:56. Tomorrow I will attempt the first speed  work of the season.

First speed workout in the last 6 months. I wasn't sure about distance, speed and number of repeats I could honestly sustain. I decided to go for 1000m distance trying to cover the distance at 10k pace (right now for me an aggressive 10k pace would be around 4:00/km) with  2 min recovery jog. I left undetermined the number of repeats. I started with 500m warmup and then I started: 3:55, 3:58 (that is much better), 3:58, 4:01 (I felt this was the beginning of the end), 3:54 (I really went all out in this one, but maybe I can keep going...), 4:07 (this is really the end, I was well beyond all out but I couldn't keep the pace any more). Two more minutes of light jogging and then I finished with a 3k cooldown.

It was a perfect evening with a light breeze and no sun, I was surprised about this training run, I am confident that in a month or so I will be able to complete 10 repeats around this pace (4:00-4:05/k).

Long day at work, I got home at 8:30pm with no desire to go for a run. Tomorrow it will be a different day, I hope.

I did a slow run on some of the trails of the upcoming trail marathon, with the stretch I did tonight I have probably just 5-6k that I don't know at all. 7.5 miles in 1:08:41.

Another medium run on trails with Daniele. Last big run before next weekend race.. This one was a two-hill run, last weekend was a three-hill, but today we felt safer (the race is in 8 days, no reason to risk) going a little bit shorter. We finished really cruising during the last 3 miles and overall we finished about 30"/km faster than the last two weeks. The fast finish was good for our mood and at the end we were not trashed. We finished in 2:25 and we celebrated having a  "breakfast" with croissant and cappuccino.
