Personal:

My name is Eugenio I was born near Rome, Italy, in 1972 and lived there for 29 years, then in 2001 I moved to Salt Lake City for work and for seven years and one month that was my home, since 2008 I am back to Italy. I started running in 2003 when I realized I could not ride my bike throughout the Utah winter.

First speed workout in the last 6 months. I wasn't sure about distance, speed and number of repeats I could honestly sustain. I decided to go for 1000m distance trying to cover the distance at 10k pace (right now for me an aggressive 10k pace would be around 4:00/km) with  2 min recovery jog. I left undetermined the number of repeats. I started with 500m warmup and then I started: 3:55, 3:58 (that is much better), 3:58, 4:01 (I felt this was the beginning of the end), 3:54 (I really went all out in this one, but maybe I can keep going...), 4:07 (this is really the end, I was well beyond all out but I couldn't keep the pace any more). Two more minutes of light jogging and then I finished with a 3k cooldown.

It was a perfect evening with a light breeze and no sun, I was surprised about this training run, I am confident that in a month or so I will be able to complete 10 repeats around this pace (4:00-4:05/k).
