Happy Cinco de Mayo! Last night I took my wife to the movies. We were going to watch the Avengers, but when we saw the line wrapped around the building we decided to go to the dollar theater and watch MI4. It was ok. I liked the other ones better. Anyway, we bought tickets for the 9:25p showing, and we sat and waited for it to start. And we waited. And we waited. Then I looked at my ticket, and it said 9:50p! So we finally got out of the movie after midnight, and I didn't get to bed until after 1a. I contemplated cancelling the run I had planned with my team, but that would make me a jerk. I managed to get up at 4a and get ready. Alyssa was the only other Ragnar teammate that came. We ran Usery Pass. 3.7 miles up 700+ feet. Then back down. Neither Alyssa nor I have run since Ragnar two weeks ago. But I felt surprisingly good. Alyssa tried to keep up with me, but I could tell her breathing was labored. After a while she just gave up and ran her own pace. But she did awesome. My overall pace was 9:31. My new shoes worked out pretty good. They're trainers, whatever that means. I just saw that they were lightweight and stability. They feel pretty good.

| | I need to run. I need to blog. The last three weeks I've been in a funk. A funky funk. I get home at 6am after working a 12 hour shift. All I want to do is go to sleep. So I do. When I get up, it's sooo hot. I've had no desire to run in this heat. And the more I didn't run, the more I convinced myself that it was okay to take a break from running for a while. After all, everybody does it. And some of my wonderful blogger friends like Steam8 can't even run anymore. I'm sure that it willl be hard for her, but she'll move on. She'll find other ways to be active. I can do the same. And blogging. Several bloggers have said, "What would we do without you, Burt?" In my mind I've thought, "You'd be just fine. You'll find someone else just as funny as me, and you'll keep on blogging." But here's the thing. In three weeks time my cholesterol has gotten out of control. I feel horrible. My diet hasn't helped. And my legs aren't as strong. I need to run. It's a matter of health. And sanity. I also need to blog. When I first joined the blog I was so excited about running. More than that, I was excited about making other people excited about running. Then I kind of became the class clown. Which is fine, I guess. But I miss telling people how awesome they are. I miss reading everyone's race reports. I miss my friends. So, I think it's time for a fresh start. I still don't think I'll be able to devote as much time to the blog as I used to, but I'm gonna try to do better. 2 miles, 9:06 pace, 94°F.

| | Don't stop me now. I'm on a roll! 100°F! I gotta do what I gotta do. Did I tell everyone that I was recently made a Ragnar Ambassador? I don't know exactly what it means, but it sounds cool! And I found this picture of me, RAD, Chad, and allie going to the Third Thursday Adventure Run.

| | I went out later in the day. It was only 89°. I felt good. The magic water fountain's mystical powers were as potent as ever.
