I wanted to go running yesterday.  I even got dressed for the occasion.  But I never went.  Luckily I just wore my outfit as jammies and went out this morning.  I wanted to go 3, but after half a mile I could barely breathe.  So I turned around and came home.  I think I just need to keep trying.

I got up and knew I needed to run.  Mostly because someone on the blog who shall remain nameless [Tara Summers] thinks I'm a loser and need to step it up a notch.  Did I mention I got up at noon and I live in the Phoenix Metropolitan area?  Well, it was only 79º, but it felt like 85º.  I took a water with me and sipped on it every quarter mile.  I ran real slow, as usual.  And I got a drink from the magic water fountain.  The lungs weren't as congested as last time, but still a little bit.  Now to spend time with Abby who just turned 7 before I have to go back to work.

Well, I didn't really want to say anything about this run, but I must.  It hurt.  But I'm bound and determined to make this a fresh new start.  No adventures today.  All business.

After yesterday's run I was thinking it would take forever for me to get back into it.  After today's run I'm thinking it might not take that long after all.  Yesterday each mile split progressively got higher.  Today they got lower.  And I feel pretty good.  As the Brady kids would say -

We're gonna keep on, keep on, keep on, keep on dancing all through the night,

We're gonna keep on, keep on, keep on doing it right,

We're gonna keep on, keep on , keep on movin,

Gonna keep on, keep on, keep on grooving,

Keep on singing and dancing all through the night,

Once upon a time when I was in first grade, I had a best friend named Robbie Schuster.  One day I was at Robbie's house playing.  Back in 1978 it was okay for first graders to use the same toilet at the same time.  So we did.  There was one little problem.  I was, and still am to this day, a horrible aim.  I peed on Robbie's leg.  Robbie exclaimed, "You peed on my leg!"  From the other room his mother called, "Robbie!  Get over here!"  I stayed in the bathroom for fear of what might happen to Robbie for saying the P word.  "Please mom don't spank me!  Please mom don't spank me!"  Robbie got a spanken' because I peed on his leg.

I tell that story because today my wife had gastric bypass surgery.  Guess who the surgeon was?  Yep, you guessed it.  Robbie.  The boy I haven't seen since jr. high when he moved away.  I sure hope he didn't leave any "surprises" inside my wife's stomach today.

Anyway, spent all day at the hospital.  No running.
