Did my usual alternating speeds, but lost track of what was when because I had to pause the TM for a while to feed baby. I do know that I did 7.0 for a full mile (twice I think) instead of just .5 miles and it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. |

- 5 miles on the Boulevard, 9:11 AP even with the hills! Fastest ever post-baby Blvd run
- abs with 2x1 min planks
Interesting experience...I couldn't get out for a run until 9:45am and I actually felt more like just going down on the TM do get my run in! That's never happened before. =0) Looks like me and the TM have come to terms with each other. But I made myself go outside since Saturdays are one of the few days I can do that and I'm glad I did, it was a good run. It was beautiful outside and my legs felt really strong and springy so I decided to go fast. I got my speed down to 6:50's on the downhills and tried to keep the flats under 9:00 and then power up the hills as best as I could.
Excited to read the reports for Top of Utah! Hope everyone had a good time. |

- 5.51 miles, 5th south loop 9:41 AP
- abs with 2x1 min planks
My little alarm clock woke up (starving!) a few hours earlier than normal so I was able to easily run outside before James needed to leave. This loop at that AP used to be harder than it was this morning. What used to be a hard effort to get under 10:00 is now an easy run. I can tell my base mileage is finally paying off! And I never have to worry about seeing 10:00 AP anymore (unless I'm really tired). Looking forward to having 8:00's AP being the new norm, but that may take awhile. Now that I've been back to work just over a month, I can see that the lack of sleep from the night shift is slowing my progress a bit (I had to cut back on the longer runs for now), but we're getting there! |

I went into this race thinking I would just run as much as I could and walk if I needed to, but once I started running, I realized I could probably run the whole thing at a decent pace and shoot for sub 2 hours because my very first half was a 1:54:28 (Moab Canyonlands) so I figured if I could get close to that I would feel good about it considering my very sub-par training right now. I got 1:55:22! :) The longest I've ran post baby was 10.54 miles back on Aug 17th, so I was crossing my fingers that I wouldn't fall apart a the end. But I just kept getting more warmed up so I was able to keep up the pace. It was fairly easy to keep up the pace since it was so aided. I really think I could have gone faster if I was more aware of my fitness level and had more courage. I look forward to getting back to running half marathons with lots of speed with my heart and lungs wide open feeling the fire and then feel so great afterwards!
The course was VERY steep at some parts and the roads were cantered for most of it, so I didn't really like that. My toes aren't going to be happy (from hitting the tops of my shoes most of the way) as well as my quads and probably other random muscles thrown in there. And I got blisters on the outsides of my feet by about 6 miles! Pansy feet! They are way too pampered right now and are not used to the longer distances. I feel more haggered and sore in my feet and soleus muscles and shins than I know I would have if I had more long runs under my belt. My feet/legs felt at mile 7-9 how they do at mile 18-21 during a marathon.
I stayed afterwards to see the marathon winner come in. It's camdog from the blog (I'm assuming that is how it is spelled). I congratulated him and asked him if he was on the blog. He was happy to have won his first marathon! Great job!
The scenery was gorgeous. There was one spot in particular with a patch flaming red trees, it was so pretty! There were lots of other fall colors, too. I felt like this was a very organized race, I think they'll do a great job in the years to come with it.
Finally got my garmin sync working again: (mile 5 had a potty break, hence the slow time....I had to wait in line for the POP!)

- 40 minutes of "Cardio Burn" with Mitch
- abs with 2x1 min planks
- 3 miles on the TM 29:40, 9:53 AP
Yes, I am still that sore that I had to warm up with aerobics in order to run. :) As James was teasing me for walking like an old lady on Sunday I reminded him that back in the day I could run a marathon and be less sore than this! At least today my feet didn't clunk or drag because my legs were disfuctional. Don't run a half if you haven't trained for one! |

- 3 miles on the Blvd with our new jogger! She loved it as much as I did. :)
Got it in the mail from Amazon today, it's always fun getting a package on the doorstep! It's the BOB Revolution. The old used one I bought from KSL ended up being a hassle with things you just never know until you're actually using it consistently. Two big annoyances: the alignment pulled to the right constantly, so much that my hand would get really tired from pulling it back all the time...I couldn't even let it go for a few steps before it went really hard to the right. And then it didn't fit in our trunk because the back tires were too big so I had to take it all apart and take the front wheel off and squeeze in in through the back and it was really long, so it was jammed up in the front seat as well. Just to take it anywhere took 25 minutes to put it in and then take it out and put it back together, etc. So I ended up never wanting to use it even though there were lots of times I wanted to take her outside for a run. Anyway! The new one is GREAT! Huge reviews on Amazon and I have to say I agree with all of them. It rides great, has a lever to correct the alignment easily, it folds up quickly AND fits into our trunk without having to take off any wheels. Oh! And the shade cover goes down really far so baby girl never gets sun in her eyes. |

- 10.5 miles, Parrish Lane loop, 9:48 AP
- abs with 2x1 min planks
My mileage was super low this week (not really by choice) so I wanted to have a good run today and that is what I got! I was on track for a 9:30 or lower pace but I kind of starting bonking at 6 miles....I usually don't eat breakfast before going out, but that was back when I left at 6 or 7am. =0) Today I didn't get out till 10am so I really should have thought to eat when I first woke up! |
