Today our race was at Wheeler Farm. When we got there we did a warm-up that was about a mile and a half. Then we did the race, that was pretty interesting. Within the first 50 meters the course had 2 turns, and had already narrowed to single file. Then 100 meters later we ran next to the river (so close that you were practically in the river and at one point you had to jump over the water). After that the course was pretty good, but it wasn't marked well and the road we were on split several times, but didn't say which way to go. Then about a mile into the race a trailer was ahead of us, and it took up the whole path so it was hard to pass. Other parts of the course had lots of turns, and some spots with deep sand. I felt pretty good during the race, but it was very hot. I was so thirsty during the race, and my mouth had dried out so I couldn't swallow. I could have pushed harder, but I gave up mentally during the race, and didn't really try to catch the girl ahead of me. My legs were fine, but I was breathing hard. After the race I wanted to know how long the course really was because it was supposed to be a 5k but based on our times I didn't think that was right. I found someone who had a garmin, I borrowed it and jogged the course again. It turned out to be 3.25, so it wasn't way long, and my time should have been faster but overall I was happy with the race, plus our team took first scoring, 1,2,3,6,11. The boys also won scoring, 3,5,6,8,11.(Pegasus 307) |
