4 mile: 28:10 (2005)

10K: 43:33 (2010)

10 mile: 1:13:35 (2009) (1:12:15 split in 1/2 marathon, 2011)

1/2 marathon: 1:34:31 (2011)

marathon: 3:19:15 (2013)

Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

2:47:29 (8:22 AP).  So, I was supposed to this with the last 8 at marathon pace.  But, I have a cold'. It isn't a bad cold, but it is a cold.  I talked to Greg (in a panic), and we decided to back off today in hopes of letting my immune system do its thing.  I had planned on running 18, and I was supposed to take it easy.  If I started to feel badly at any point then cut it short.  Problem is that I wouldn't really (won't really) know if it was "too much" until tonight or tomorrow :-).   I tried to keep it at 65-75% effort, which apparently is 8:35 pace because that is what every single mile split was on the way out ... every one!  My body started picking up the pace after I turned around, I had to slow myself down ... It wasn't marathon pace (I had a couple 7:59s in there), but it was faster than I had promised myself to go, I was still averaging about 8:10-8:20 on the way back, even while trying to keep it easy.  Bummed that I didn't get some more MP miles, but I still have 2 more "workouts" to go and if I can stay healthy for them then it will be worth it!!

Happy Sunday!! Congrats on the awesome races today (Rachelle rocks!).  The Mill rose Games are on ESPN tonight for any of you that missed the live feeds yesterday!!  T&F!

Seems like a good sign that you are having to hold yourself back, even when sick. Great long run today!

as i was writing on your blog last night i was saying to james: "she'll get it done."

you always do. great job, bonnie.

8:35. i'm so glad it wasn't something horribly un-round like 8:34 or 8:36.

now go blast that cold away with an emergenc-laden rootbeer float.

SJ -- I am not "super sick" just in the "fighting something off" sick. Kind of worse, really, because it could go either way!!

allie -- ha ha, I am not sure what I "got done", I did run 20 miles, so I guess that is something. I did not work on dialing in MP - which is the part that scares me a little. Greg has put a lot more speed into this training cycle than in the past -- lots of 5-10K paced stuff, and very little of my "favorite" sort of workouts (in the 1/2 - marathon pace!). Anyway -- I am grateful that I was able to run the mileage, and yes, even more grateful that it was NOT in the 8:34 or 8:36 range!!! I hope you are feeling peppy and ready to go!! you have been really consistant this cycle!!

The higher intensity might have set your immune system back, so smart move today!

Thank you for saying that Jake! I have been "arguing" with myself all day!!

Better to err on the side of getting in the long run and not be broken for the last couple workouts. Greg and I agree, what other advice do you need? :-)

From Bonnie on Sun, Feb 17, 2013 at 17:10:22 from 196.3.39.209

ha! Dean agreed too (although he wanted me to run 18, I just couldn't see the difference between 18 and 20 ;-) ).
