PR's

5K: 21:26 (2005)

4 mile: 28:10 (2005)

10K: 43:33 (2010)

10 mile: 1:13:35 (2009) (1:12:15 split in 1/2 marathon, 2011)

1/2 marathon: 1:34:31 (2011)

marathon: 3:19:15 (2013)

Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

AM: (10 miles, 1:17:34).  Pretty much uphill out, downhill back.  The footing is sort like Jeremy Ranch Road - same elevation too, maybe a little higher than JRR here - but the hills are a little steeper, and the climb is net uphill the whole way.  LOVED it, I have to go slow, and I huff and puff more than I do at home, but I know it is good for me :)

PM: easy 4 -- very windy, cloudy because a storm blew through, NICE NICE NICE!

Happy Tuesday of a holiday week, bloggers!

BTW, I backed my car into a ditch and had to be towed out.  It was stupid, there is no excuse, other than I wasn't paying attention, I had just gotten off of a conference call and was distracted!  The guy who towed me out laughed at me.  Dean laughed at me.  A neighbor came by and asked if I knew my car was in the ditch (he thought maybe my car had slipped out of gear and rolled) -- I was too slow to go with it - and sheepishly admitted I did in fact know -- and, he laughed at me (in a very nice way :)).  It was a "laugh at Bonnie" kind of day!!

AM:(9.5 miles, 1:21:34). Hot, but I get sprinkles near the end!!! Yes!! I hope it rains, I hope it rains.  The firefighters need it, Arizona needs it, I want it ....:-)

Today, I did not work, not a moment, not a second, probably the first day that I can say that in many months.  Dean said my work, and stress, was ruining his vacation.  So, I am trying to behave.

Great races bloggers!!! So happy to read all your race reports!!! Happy 4th!

AM:(7.5 miles, 1:04:43).  We ran at Buffalo Park today.  First time I have run with pace feedback since my marathon.  I was surprised to find myself running at 8:30-8:40 pace the whole time (at 7000ft).  Who knew?  I am sure the cooler temps help to ameliorate the altitude!

Had brunch wit Tracy and Greg McMillan, and then took a nap ... Heavenly!

PM: easy 4 in the rain.

Happy Saturday bloggers!

2:03:21.  (Maybe farther than 14 miles, as this is based on ~ 9 min/miles, and apparently I am running a bit faster than that, given yesterday ... But I am loathe to change my usual estimates - I am a creature of habit!).  Trail run on Campbell Mesa, pretty much the easiest set of trails in Flagstaff ... I still huffed and puffed up hills, but it was a good day, my first 2 hour run in 2 months!  I was super tired by last 18 mins, but happy to be in the mountains!

Happy Sunday bloggers.

On a grosser note, Lucy found something very dead - she rolled in it, and carried its head (?) around (Dean thinks woodchuck - I don't know as extraction of dead carcasses from dogs mouths clearly falls in the domain of "Dean's job").  It was gross, and frankly, I can't quite bring myself to pet her (despite washing her and feeding her basil to help clean her mouth out).  Sorry, but today I am thinking dogs are just super gross.

AM:(9 miles, 1:17:43).  I found a wonderful trail today.  Started up (I do mean UP) for 3 miles on a wonderful forest service road.  Then it flattened out a bit and came to a bunch of trails on top of a ridge.  The trails were a little harder than the FR road, but it was awesome, and pretty (though I couldn't see too scenery because I had to watch my footing :)).  LUCKY ME!

PM: easy 4.

Happy Tuesday, bloggers!

I had a not-so-great work week (I am working from Flagstaff), which means many many conference calls).

But, running is great!  I miss you bloggers, more later!

I wanted to run 8 today -- but I had to sneak this run in between bunches of conference calls and a little lunch date with Tracy McMillan.  Then, at night, I met up with Dean who was attending the McMillan Running Coaches clinic (he is not a coach, but Greg invited him to come and participate - because he has been running for so long -- because he is old, he he; seriously, he has actually been running for about 40 years now).  Anyway - the attendees had a dinner and I joined up with them.  One of the coaches was a coach from Yuma, AZ who is the coach of the state/US boys champion in the mile, Bernie Montoya (http://parser.dyestat.com/search.jsp?athID=166783#.UeQLNTs7hg0) he ran a 4:01 mile last year,  he also is the state boys champion at the 2 mile (9:00 min), and a host of other distances as well.  His coach, Chris, was a super nice guy, and very knowledgeable about running in general, and coaching.  Fun dinner!!

Happy Friday bloggers!

1:14:37.  I felt much better than last week, in part because it was cooler, and in part because I did not run as hard yesterday as I did last Saturday.  I am so sad that this is our last week here.

Very upset to hear that Tyson Gay is a drug cheat.  I guess I am not surprised, just not happy.

Can't wait to see if Jordan Hasay can get the A standard tonight -- fingers crossed!!

AM: (9 miles, 1:16:34).  Up the trail, I found a really nice meadow after about 3.5 miles up.  It was so peaceful, the footing was good, I felt so lucky to be running in such a beautiful place.

PM: easy 4

The weather has been so awesome this week.  I am seriously dreading going back to the 110F heat.  Luckily, the monsoons seem to be good this year, so at least it will be interesting.  I will hate having to get out and run super early :), I am such a morning slacker.

Happy Tuesday, bloggers!

Last run in Flagstaff.  Very sad, and disappointed with myself for working so much during my 'vacation'.

Did my long run today since we are driving all day tomorrow.

Happy Saturday!

goose-egg.  I had a very flight, my hope was to run after I got into Montreal, but I did not get in until 6:30 or so, and by the time I got through customs and got settled in my room, it was late, and I was starving ... so, big old goose-egg.
