Well this is my first entry in my blog. I ran today in about 40 degree weather. Felt very nice to just have a pair of cotton shorts on. I've been running many many years. Always kept up at least 15 miles a week. 3 times a week. Then years ago i got hurt (shins splints)  and started going to the gym instead. Which thats' what i have been doing for years now. I would like to train for a marathon Boston was always my dream. I get shivers down my spine when i think of it. But i know if i am to do this i will have to stay out of the gym pretty much cause for some reason they both just don't go good together for me.

 

I'm retired and work parttime but haven't been called into work for sometime which pis**es me off. So I'm thinking hell with them all i will run 8-12 miles a day.. It seems i can only run and enjoy it in the morning hours before i eat anything. I used to be an afternoon runner and evening to but at my age now mornings seem best.

 

Today my run felt fast and smooth. I didn't time it and haven't timed any of my runs for years. But i know it was a sub 8 min I'm sure. I'll have to buy a watch i guess..

Well ok .. if anyone wants to give me a shout go ahead..

Today was a day off. I slept good last night but was feeling a little restless at 11pm and was thinking i would have a hard time getting to sleep. But didn't happen.

Went to the gym today to.. just did 2 sets of everything. lol.

40 degrees and cloudy. Roads were clear.. I went out and ran around 4 pm wasn't bad. I think if i don't eat big meals i can do afternoon runs. Still not timing myself. People always said i run to fast all the time which I'm going to try and slow down some. That way maybe i will not burn myself out to soon. it seemed i always was a mid pack runner.. I would look up in front and see a whole bunch then look to the rear and see the same. So i guess thats not to bad.. I know i should do more races even if there short. It seems to build me up faster.

Went out around 10am when the rain let up. Was 50 degrees very nice to wear shorts and long sleeve shirt.

 

The run seemed slow.. my legs i think had lastic acid build up. Not use to putting days together. But have to try and keep it up.

Took the day off. Went to the gym instead and did two sets of everything. I guess not getting enough sleep at my age affects ya. Anyway don't know if i could really make a marathon a goal.. seems to be to much work and stress for me. Everyone's different. 

 

Oh by the way that picture of me was taken probably 10 years ago.. i'm about 10lbs heavier today..

Not bad today a little slow going in fist half last half was better. Sunny and cold about 20 degrees with a 20 mph wind. Getting a little tired of the same route.. But i think coming here and recording my mileage helps.. i wasn't even going to go out today.. glad i did.. i have a flat 8 mile course i will have to start doing.. and another 5 miler but with steep hills. one hill is over a mile high.. and coming back down into town is tricky to.. got to be careful ..

For some reason after running hard i wake up very early in the morning.. guess i'll try going to bed a little earlier to off set it.. if it starts to really bother me..

Sunny and cold. Lots of ice covering the roads after the storm we had. So made for slow cautious going in many places.

Warmed up nice temps about 40. Roads clear but ran slow. Probably cause i did leg work at the gym yesterday

Got my 8 miler in. Wasn't as bad as i thought it would be. Mind over matter i think. The weather was cloudy with about 38 degrees. We are waiting for snow and rain so i was glad to get this in before it happened. Once i start feeling comfortable with 6 training days a week I'll start timing my runs. Right now it just does not make a big difference to me.. Who knows maybe Boston for 2009..
