Was a good race overall. I came into the race with very little expectations but thought it would be nice to be close to 2 hours. Carrie was running and this was her first half marathon. We were able to run relatively together throughout the race. The first few miles were pretty good. Had some good downhill and nice scenery through the little canyon. The next few miles were starting to wear on my as my feet started to react to the pounding. Took some ibuprofen at that aid station before the bridge to Washington Dam Road. From that point on, I was trying to catch my wife who somehow was on some runner's high (myth) and was just cruising along. Didn't care for the hills but dealt with it trying to push a little to tell myself that I could run a hill and really liked the downhill coming out of majestic view. I finally caught Carrie at mile 11.5 and had to keep her mentally focused to finish. Was great to run with her and ended up just over 2 hours, which was fine by me. Refreshed myself with some chocolate milk and cheered the rest of the crew as they finished. Good times. (Cumulus 8: 270)
