I camped at the lake and ran 24 miles into Buckskin Gulch, Lake Powell and still didn't reach the end of this incredible slot canyon reported to be the longest in the world.  I think I was within a mile or two though.  Incredible running at 50 degrees up along the rock rim and down through the slot.  With temps like this I was able to run this light today with only a Mt Dew and some Fig Newtons.  Kept it slow and just took it all in.  This has to be one of the top five trails I've ever ran.  Tonight I'm going to try and sneak down to the Res and do a night run through Antelope Canyon.  No idea what the Navahos do if they catch you at that.  Might have to go to work tomorrow night which would mean catching a flight out of Page so I have to get in here what I can.  I took some video today running the terraces and the canyon.  Can't wait to see it.

Spent the day boating along the Wawheap area of Powell and getting the boat into storage. Afternoon I took the kayak out heading South. Not a boat on the lake tonight which I have never experienced, water was glass. I did the longest kayak trip I have ever done, 11 miles past Glenn Canyon through Antelope down into Navajo. Had to portage the kayak six times, once over a mile and a half As exhausted as I can ever remember being. It was warm at first but after 11pm the temp dropped fast and the water spraying over the front was freezing on my face and hands. A few hours later I was covered in a coat of ice but loving every minute. Just unreal experience. Seven hours as hard as I could go.

Headed out of Powell after a two hour nap to get the kids for the rest of the week. Long drive but still high from the night kayaking. Short run in Escalante on the way.

Gym workout. 6 miles @ 6min pace, 750 meter swim, 6 miles @ 6 min pace.

Celebrated my bday with my daughter who was born two weeks early right on my birthday twelve years ago. Love that little rascal... Got her her first kayak so she can start hitting the lakes with me.

Day off.  Short run with a few hours of ice skating with the kids.  I look forward to new articles that pop up from Ian Hunter but this latest one has zero content.  Put one foot in front of the other...

Supposed to be off in Texas today running a cool trail race but family things kept me home. On the flip side it meant a much more relaxed few days with the kids. We spent four hours in the Layton wave pool last night.

Good V02 max workout today with 6X1miles and 8X100s for a little speedwork. I am continually amazed this year how far out if shape I have allowed myself to get.

Spent the afternoon at the high school open meet at Utah State hanging out with the Mantzes. Claire got fourth in the 1600 with a great start and Conner ran an awesome 1600 taking first. Wished I had had time to hang out through the rest of the day to watch. I had time to catch up with Corbin Tally and Bill Cobler. The Alta coach and his team were probably sleeping in, or spending the day reading weekend obituaries.
