Another one of those sweet long runs on the Des Plains River Trail. I ran into a herd of five deer tonight. Running into the wind, came around a corner and right into them. Could have touched several as they scattered around me.

Deer do not usually travel in herds unlike their Elk cousins. They tend to be more solitary like the moose.

True. They also don't collect in herds just male. I got a picture of five bucks just enjoying their evening meal together.
