Ran the American Fork 5k course with Sasha and Ted after they ran the race. Nice mild tempo. 17:51 total for 3 miles at MP effort. Rolling terain with hills. Had an awesome dinner the night before cooked by Sara who is Sasha's wonderful wife. We had scripture study afterward dealing with the subject of faith and after contemplating it, brought me to remember a quote from 17th century French scientist, Blaise Pascal. "Belief is a wise wager. Granted that faith cannot be proved, what harm will come to you if you gamble on its truth and it proves false? If you gain, you gain all, if you lose you lose nothing. Wager, then without hesitation, that he exists." I think that I'll take that bet that he does exists and then run with it literally as well as figurtively. See you at the finish.

AM-7 easy miles up to the the big K-mart in Draper and back. then 2 easy laps around the outer perimeter of  the complex for 8 miles total. Knee bothered me again today a little on the warmup, so no second workout.

Went easy for a bit to test my knee a bit. Did not feel any pain! Weird, but I'll take it so I decided to do the workout today. Caught the race bus taking runners back up to their cars. I got off and decided on a tough 16 mile long run with a 4 mile tempo to start going from Mtn Dell to the Parleys canyon junction and then back up to the Salt Lake 10 miler start. I then proceeded to run the last 10 miles at MP pace to the finish at the monument. Dehydrated at the end even with the water I got from a friendly runner who had finished the 10 miler. Total time was 1:30:41 with 10 miles at MP pace in 55:41. A little slow, but not too bad considering very little water and the wind changed directions coming down the canyon. A pretty dang good workout nonetheless. I love these fast paced 16 milers and I credit them in boosting my fitness more than anything else.
