Personal:

I was a single mom.  Two times over.  We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions.  Then, I met a man I didn't deserve.  And he loves me so much.  And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer.  Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now.  But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway.  This is my failure blog now.  Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded.

Let the weirdo ultra training begin!

I can't make myself do the depleted runs (on purpose anyway, have done plently by accident). Sounds like a gruesome yet beneficial run.

Great job yesterday,

and even more impressive job today, I agree with SlowJoe, I can't even play with the idea of doing a 20 miler completely depleted, and you do it the day after and HM, you are really strong.

I get tired when I read your blog. I don't know how you do it! A win and then another win on this run!

Wow you are a crazy woman! I like it, inspiring yet exhausting :)

It didn't really dawn on me until just now, so now I have a question. I can see the benefit of training your body to run on tired legs, but why the no fuel? As I got ready for my 50s, I trained myself to be able to eat/drink throughout the race, and on race days, I had no GI problems. My legs were tired, especially after 50K, but I was never fuel depleted. I'm just wondering why you would want to torture yourself more than you have to. LOL

Moving the conversation over from my blog, your planned ultras look great! The 50, like you said, will be a great transition to that distance and you will run a flying time, well down into the 7s, I'll bet. Your success on the 50K will carry forward to that 100K, too, I'll also bet...especially without the February mudfest!

Neasts--a lot of it was just no planning, I didn't have anything ready or lined up for fuel. I don't usually fuel for long runs, and I run marathons with just a little gatorade. That said, I fueled a bit more for the 50k and know I definitely need more for the 50 mile. Maybe I am too optimistic, but my gut is pretty strong, and it will take food. I have done enough runs on a full stomach to know that!!

From Neasts on Thu, Mar 07, 2013 at 15:08:48 from 75.169.62.136

I'm impressed with your gut. I've never dared to run on a full stomach, and in my last race I took in probably 1500 calories in the middle 6 hours in the form of either gels, Perpeteum, or Sustained Energy. I need to learn to run on solids, as they're easier to pack.
