Personal:

I was a single mom.  Two times over.  We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions.  Then, I met a man I didn't deserve.  And he loves me so much.  And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer.  Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now.  But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway.  This is my failure blog now.  Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded.

Not the time I wanted, definitely forgot how wicked and up, up, uphill this course was.  Upside, I felt strong the whole time, just told myself to keep it under control and run.  Think I kept it too under control because next thing I knew it was over and I felt way too good.  Legs were burning from all the climbing but aerobically felt awesome, could've talked the whole time.  I feel like if I keep plugging away and get back to trained up this could be a really great year.  Rode up with the honey badger team and we cleaned up awards, was pretty fun.  Didn't wear a watch, but knew from running near my team mate most of the first half that splits when not climbing were right around 6:45 so really,  a 1:29 in a few months is likely.  maybe sub-3 this fall.  feeling good!

a climbing half?? yikes. come here and all of them are too down hill. : D. Jk I guess you can find two or three honest halfs here. GREAT job on the win!! No doubts about your subthree again this year!! :D.

Awesome April. Very good time for an uphill half. Amazing.

Uh, yeah, 1 month training, and you still win the race - awesome. Was there any competition?

I would not sweat the time at all after seeing that elevation profile. Th longer races will be the last to fall into place anyway, but fall into place they will. No doubt sub-3 this fall. Congrats on the win.

Thanks y'all! Joe--no, no real competition on the female side, but the men's field was stacked! I traded leads for 3 miles, then just took out and didn't look back. I knew second place was close in miles 3 to 11 because I could hear them cheer for her but I tried to mount a solid surge in mile 12 and get the gap comfortably bigger. I kinda wish there had been someone to really push, because I ran this too conservitive--was feeling uncertain of my fitness level.

Wow awesome job considering the elevation of the course April. This is the first race of the year and I think you are at a great place moving forward.

Keep on keeping on!
