Too much sugar yesterday made for not such a great run today.  The first couple of miles were rough then I started to get in a groove and felt better the second half of the run.  Today was the first day of Pfitz's 12/70 training plan.  I think that the structure of a training plan will do me some good.

Pfitz's book is one of the best I've found. Are you going all the way up to 90 mpw?

From Andy on Mon, Jun 01, 2009 at 10:04:24 from 199.190.170.24

70 mpw seems to be my limit. I've gone above that a few times but it is too much of a time investment.

Nice I thought about doing that one too if I ever work back up to that kind of miles. So what is the goal race to use it on? Or just following a plan?

Mark - I am being non-committal about a goal race. Coincidentally, there is one in 12 weeks (Mesa Falls marathon). It's small and thought I could turn the trip into a Yellowstone trip if I decide to do it.

That would be awesome. Small races are great and talk about a great location. We are talking about going up to Yellowstone too. I am just happy to see your training for something. After that 5k sounds like your getting your competive edge back.:) And its good to have you back.

I tried Pfits last year but I need to cross train more and couldn't quite tweak it to make it work. This year I am doing Hal Higdon's Advanced II and then adding my cross training in to up the miles a bit.

I too am glad the you are at least thinking about racing again!

YAY!!! Happy to hear you're getting back to a training mode. I like running for running sakes; but it's good to have something to train for too when the mind is ready. I think a 12 week training program is just right for an advanced and talented runner like you. Long enough to maximize your fitness without burn out. ENJOY and have a great summer!

Enjoy the plan.

Andy, can't wait to watch your MOJO kick it up a notch!!

What day is that marathon? Not that I will be even close to ready to race by then, but I will be there August 13 - 16.

From Rhett on Mon, Jun 01, 2009 at 19:31:40 from 170.215.58.122

So was the sugar worth it? I hate when I eat something bad for me that really wasn't that good tasting. If it tastes good enough then it is totally worth it.

From Andy on Mon, Jun 01, 2009 at 19:36:51 from 198.60.114.178

Teena - It is on Aug 22. As I am thinking of the logistics, I am starting to realize that it may be more difficult to take the kids than I thought.

Rhett - The junk food was definitely not worth it.
