Decided to push the pace a little today. Ran 10-20 seconds faster than marathon pace for the middle 7 miles. I know that this is no man's land but it felt good.

Andy - this run, along with your 5 K struggle, shows that you would perhaps benefit from some sharp interval work. Try something like 12x400 with 2 minutes of rest at about 80 seconds each.
