My buddy talked me into doing this race. I'm way out of shape, so I knew it was going to hurt a bit. The race was short, even though I took a wrong turn that added about 0.1mi to my run, the Garmin tallied 2.95 miles. I had to burst my friend's bubble, he thought he ran a 16:37 5k, but he only ran about 2.85 miles. Bummer. Nothing else to report other than my splits: 6:19, 6:43, 6:24 (.95mi). This is a fun little event. It draws around 500 participants, which is a bunch for this area. My results were very similar to my other 5k a couple weeks ago. The temp was in the high 30's and it was windy. Splits: 5:50, 6:39, 7:06, :27 last .07mi. The first half of the course is steady downhill. At 1.5mi, you head off-road into the woods and the course gets a little tricky. I'm satisfied with my effort, but can't wait until I'm fit again. I'm spent aerobically within the first mile and have to hang on for dear life. It's not a very fun way to compete. | Add Comment |
