We got a babysitter today so we could both race up in Morgan. Riley ran the marathon and I ran the 5K. I was disappointed to learn the day before the race that they weren't offically timing the 5K. I didn't want to do the 10k though because I still have a lot of baby weight to lose and the 5K would be a perfect workout for the week. I had no expectations going into this race. The temperature was nice and cool.

The gun went off and I immeidately was the first place female. There were quite a few high school boys who went out in front of me but I ended up catching most of them and only losing to 4 of them. The first mile had an uphill then the rest of the course was flat. As I started getting a feel for the race I picked a pace that would be comfortable and a good push for me. So I tried to run all 3 of my miles under 7 minute pace. Mile splits were 6:59, 6:51, 6:59. I was pushing hard the last mile to keep under 7 minutes. I just barley got there. It's a good starting place for me. Hopefully I'll keep at it and improving. Now I'm looking for another 5k to jump into soon.

Nice work Amy. Keep making it happen for sure. Impressive sub 7's. You'll back to shape in no time.
