Serious Advice Needed! Has anyone ever had to ease back into running after a huge layoff? My hip is doing fabulous, but my lower legs are on fire. Seriously, I didn't go through this stupid hip surgery to wind up with shin splints. I have been running for 4 weeks now and am now up to 30 minutes of running with walk breaks. I am running on wood chips, stick rolling, stretching, and even got some compression socks. Any other ideas on how to prevent shin splints and ward off the calf/feet pain? PM: 3 x 10 minutes of running plus a little extra to get me to 3.5 miles and an even 10 for the week!!! Pace was 10:10, 9:17, 9:07, 9:18. Not bad for 15 weeks post-up but my poor calves ughhhhh!
