Running Accomplishments:

I was a much better runner in my 20's and 30's.  When I was 52 I had a 28.5 5K and a 58.5 10K, and I would like to surpass those times.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Run a 1/2 marathon.  I would actually love to run a full marathon, but am not sure if my body would break down with injuries training for one.  Update fall 2010: still no 1/2 marathon, but I did run all the way up city creek and back home (14 miles)  - absolutely gorgeous!!

Personal:

My name is Adele Kimbrough - I'm 58 and have been running (off and on) since I was 16.  My body is not well designed for speed, and I'm a bit arthritic, but I'm having fun trying to figure out just how fast I can be.  And this blog helps!

2011 Deseret News 10K Finish Line.
Dang - missed my goal by 4 seconds!

Early morning run to city creek pa 8 and back.  My legs are tired after running 4 days in a row - I'll probably take tomorrow off then try to do a long'ish run on Saturday.

Hey ho, though, just went to my orthopedics doc today for my shoulder follow up.  He's real happy with how I've progressed and has given me the green light to do whatever I want!!  :)   I'm still hesitant to go trail running, though, because I'm a klutz and fall at least 2-3 times each year on trails, but I am getting tempted by that nice shady trail that parallels the city creek road!!   o&o

A klutz??? Uh oh, klutz and trail scare me when worded together! Actually the word TRAIL just scares me!

I was thinking today that I need to go run City Creek, it has been a while! I think I may have to talk my hubby into it for next weekend. It is so nice and shady!

Glad you are well!!!

Hi Kelli,

Yep, you definitely need to go for a run in City Creek - rushing water, chirping birds, cool shade, lots of water fountains, ummm it's good for all that ails you!

I was thinking I would talk my husband in to it next weekend, but he has scout camp. The following weekend he will be in St George. So, I guess I will have to wait until August. Maybe i can talk my running group into going again! I do not dare run there alone!!!

Sure you can run there alone!!! City Creek is about the most marvelous place in the world to run!!! I could meet you there, but you'd dust me after about 100 yards. But ... you could run solo all the way to the top, turn around and run back down, and when we saw each other again I could finally turn around and you could dust me a second time! :)

But, if ya don't want to run city creek solo, yep, you better get your running group to come!

I am paranoid to run alone when i am surrounded by trees!!! Anyone could grab me and I would be too tired to run away!

I would not dust ya, I can run ALL speeds!
