I used Dad's Garmin to do 1.5 miles then did some more after with the dogs. It was the coldest run I have ever done 12ยบ Brrrrr. We have a sub this week my teacher is in Mexico. Her name is Kara but we all call her the "Whistler Lady" because she always whistles at us to be quiet.

I'm not sure what the general consensus is on counting dog walking as mileage.
